You're not going to get the RFL to accept automatic promotion to Super League anytime soon.

Unless one of the Championship sides proves they're good enough to go up this season, the RFL will be questioning whether the Championship sides should even be given the chance of promotion through a play-off system, never mind being given automatic promotion.

If Leeds get their act together and put some blow out scores on the board against the Championship teams, it'll also not do our chances of getting automatic promotion back on the agenda.

It wouldn't have to.
Do away with eight splitting and have a different system.

Besides one more club would leave us with three divisions of thirteen.

24 games (fair games) and a new system of playoffs for promotion/relegation.

Change it so it works and is FAIR.

Artificially having 4 from the Superleague and 4 from the Championship and then expecting a Championship side to get by a Superleague club in a million pound game is pants.
The Superleague club gears up for such events.

Better still to allow automatic promotion and the top club in the Championship get a right stack of money to help them compete.
No cap for one season.

Even though that structure may appear fair the RFL won't have anything to do with it. They've reduced the number of Super League teams from 14 to 12 as they think they play too many games. I can't see them wanting to increase the number of matches. The could do away with the Magic Weekend to reduce the fixtures by one but they won't do that.

Would they accept a straight play-off system where the bottom two in Super League have a one-off play-off game against the bottom two in Super League? Possibly but unlikely.

I think you've just about hit the nail on the head here. Funding issues need to be addressed. The better teams in the Championship are operating on a much lower budget than the worse teams in Super League. The title of the Million Pound Match sums it up.

The funding by the RFL has to be more proportionately distributed amongst all clubs. The funding for the bottom team in Super League must only be marginally more than the funding for the top team in the Championship. This is the only way to help bring the two leagues closer together.

I've tried to find the specific funding amounts on the RFL website but they're no where to be seen.

RL Express says that Matt Nicholson was the game star with his forward runs.

And their coach said that Doncaster played a smart and controlled game.

That is how it should be.
