I bought into the Paul Cooke purchase, and quite rightly, because the guy was a class player.
The Dons had a revival because of Paul Cooke.
He was our star player and made our side tick.
When he first came he got himself into shape and he was the business, a second Holroyd.
I noticed at the back end of last season he was caning the drink and letting his fitness go.
I watched him after the Rochdale game away, Chris Hough's testimonial , and thought he is back on the sauce.
He wasn't in shape at the start of this campaign and I thought then that things weren't right.
Then to pack in playing half way through the season confirmed what I thought, he had given up.
Paul Cooke was the driving force and star of the Dons and when he gave up we were finished.
I think that he was class, sorry is class, but subject to the temptations of food and drink, like we all are.
I am sorry to see him go, he took any bit of class with him.
I still pay into the Paul Cooke fund ... I don't know why anymore.
