Re: Workington v The Dons Sunday 1 March 2015 : Tue Mar 03, 2015 12:34 pm
My thoughts on some of the points raised / discussed;

The G Baldwin statement ... Presented as it has been is definitely a PR-error as it can be read that any money made by the Dons (if indeed there is any) would be to help Paul Dickov with his transfer targets. Rovers supporters might quite like the idea, Dons supporters would not. An immediate division in Club Doncaster.

The increased player budget ... we don't really know the facts so this is a difficult one but I concur with those who don't particularly see a vast difference to last season's playing squad, other than a number of youngsters who seem unlikely to get any game-time.

Dual Reg ... I have really mixed emotions about this. Lets be absolutely honest, last season's league placing was certainly helped by the players who came over from Hull. So far this season, it just isn't working for some reason although that's not to say that it won't ultimately. I would certainly prefer that we got a small number of players and kept them for more than a couple of games at a time but this seems unlikely.

Communications from the Club ... this clearly is a concern for a number of supporters and whilst I for one accept that not everything is for the public domain, there are some pieces of information which aren't being presented which clearly could be (match attendances for example have been mentioned).

All that said, we are supporters and now is the time to get behind the Club and the players, starting with Sunday's very tricky looking fixture against Leigh.

COYD.

Re rugbymans post I said roughly the same thing in my first post on here , while I don't enjoy the present situation , we have to put faith in Carl am sure he don't want all his hard work over the past four yer to go down the pan he has faith and so should the fans , the only thing I would suggest is that we could start building for next season now with experienced players Paul has said that this season is probably his last why not invest in the experienced half back that we will need when he do hang up his boots ,believe me the only thing lacking in the team right now is confidence

Hi Titanic Don, please take note it was Rugblyman who posted and not Rugbyman. The names are very similar.

I don't work for the club but I have plenty of positive things to say on here. But that doesn't exclude me from being critical when I think criticism is due. My aim is to try to be constructive with the points I raise in order to help the club move forwards (if anyone from the club is reading or taking notice).

I enjoy reading the views of others whether I agree with them or not.

It's only natural that this forum will have a wide range of views and opinions but in my view that is a good thing. I prefer to read posts with constructive, positive slants, but those who have negative things to say may be doing so with validity.

The one thing we probably all have in common is that we want the Dons to be successful which is why we should all consider ourselves to be on the same side, even though we're offering contrasting opinions on various matters.

Crazylegs, please keep posting because we need more opinions and contributors on here.

Funny isn't it I never mentioned any names but somebody instantly jumped on the defensive.....

Like DM I want the best for the Dons and I have my right to my opinion as you do to ours we dont have to agree in fact I'd say a lot of people disagree with my views, so may agree its all part of this wonderful concept we call free will.

I do find it odd tho that no one "official" has jumped on here to quash the rumors and disquiet among the paying supporters...and to give us some news that might help lighten the gloom after a series of losses and in some cases ineffectual performances spanning back to last season.

We get very little "news" out the club as others have mentioned they are having to rely on the Hull Daily Mail for information about our team for the weekend which does tell me there are some "issues" regarding communication.

On an unrelated issue I am still shocked by the clubs decision to partner up with an education establishment outside of its home town area and completely ignore the one in town where TWO of its playing staff ply their full time jobs. That is maybe an issue for another time, but for me its just another in a series of "own goals" regarding engaging the people of Doncaster in the world of the Dons.

How to shut down conversation ... call someone a moaner.
You don't have to actually have anything to say as long as you can call someone a moaner, you have the high ground.
In any discussion if you can stick a label on someone, you're half way there to winning it.

The simple observable fact is that when things are going smoothly, very little is posted apart from a few complimentary efforts and basic info swapping.

When things are going badly, more is posted, because anger is more of an incentive to react.

A series of issues lately have compounded a feeling of discontent, matters on and off the field.

I defy anyone to back up that all you get from some posters is moan, moan and moan.
Look at last season, there was next to nothing posted on here that was negative, and this from the same pool of posters.
This pool as a bulk of posters that post both positive and negative things.
I don't know of one poster, even me, who posts only negative things.

So people who imply that some people on here are all moan, moan, moan are talking out of their backside or only look for the negative stuff.

And yes anyone who comes on here with only a few posts behind them and gives it some 'attitude' is immediately suspected ,rightly or wrongly, of having a club association, usually a relative or friend of one of the players.

People post and comment on the observable, good when it's good and bad when it's bad.
And that is all there is to it.

Nobody who posts on here is NOT a Dons fans.
They just wouldn't bother otherwise.
They would toddle off to some chat forum instead.

Too right, peoples motives are questioned too often on here

People spend more time worrying about why someone is writing something rather than what someone is writing. Whether it is because they're a moaner, or too positive, or a player, or a coach etc doesn't matter. Get over it. We want info from people at the club then get suspicious that someone might be from the club, so no one wins. I stopped asking questions of the club and posting responses on here cause the hassle that came with it wasn't worth the benefit.

So stop moaning about it S-O
