Recruitment 2013 thread : Fri May 18, 2012 11:06 am
Going off this thread the following players are off-contract. I've highlighted the players I think Widnes should target - not the best players on the list, players I think we could realistically persuade to come here, others which are ambitious but why not offer them deals anyway. Some of which depend on who we re-sign too. I've higlighted a couple of hookers but I assume we'll be okay in that position. There's no limit on the list.

Christ almighty - you're not even half way through your FIRST season back.

Threads like this are awful. Wind back a year and it was Yoof this, Yoof that. What a sham that was.

It smacks of desperation by fans who are going through the ringer. I am reminded of the euphoric celebrations when the suits granted Widnes the license and how that all now seems a world away. Maybe some will start to realize now that the reason you're struggling is the reason why the franchise system in its present form is just not workable.

It is a write off this season as the recruitment has been poor.Signing Leuluai,Finnigan,Clarke,ISA,Watts,Moore,Cross, and Kite have all been poor.Funnily enough had bad luck with injuries with Briscoe,Kavs,Watts and Coyle out for the season. We did not buy the best from the Championship and Widnes fans don't want Cullen and Betts at the club. But the Chairman listens too their bullshit every week.My best signing would be a top coach.Youth that has played are Owens,Gerrard,Mullaly, and Craven. We have better youngsters in the U20s but Betts won't play them.

Good one.

You do realise we have played Craven, Mullally, Gerrard and Owens at some point in the season?

Or do you think that we would be in a better position if we played a team full of "Yoof" this year?

I've highlighted the players I think Widnes should target - not the best players on the list, players I think we could realistically persuade to come here, others which are ambitious but why not offer them deals anyway. Some of which depend on who we re-sign too. I've higlighted a couple of hookers but I assume we'll be okay in that position. There's no limit on the list.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=527705&tsmp=1337338353

Olivier Elima, James Donaldson, Tom Burgess.

Joe Arundel, Brett Ferres.

Darryl Millard.

Tommy Lee.

Richard Whiting, Sam Moa.

Craig Hall, Ben Galea

Luke Ambler

Ashley Gibson, Sean Gleeson, Matty Smith

Paul Clough, Andrew Dixon

Paul Johnson

Brett Hodgson, Lee Briers, Adrian Morley, Mike Cooper, Gareth O'Brien

John Kite, Steve Pickersgill, Kurt Haggerty.

Brett Finch, Stefan Marsh, Mike McIlorum, Sean O'Loughlin.

Would be happy if any of them this season.

I think we are going to need to invest more in players next season, 1) in order to compete & 2) cover for any injury crises we might have.
