I was on local radio today in Yorkshire,talking about the worst winter in 200 years. 1963 was that year from boxing day till mid march,massive snow falls and -20 temps with the sea freezing in places.I also remembered every sporting fixture being postponed in this time except games at Naughton Park when some chemical was used on the playing surface,can anybody remember its name.I would also be gratfull of the name of the full back of this time who was always losing his contact lenses during games v Fax in that era. many thanks.

Bob Randall was the full back - the 'miracle' ingredient was something that I think was called 'C 5 '.

A local referee worked in a local chemical firm that manufactured the stuff. Beggared the grass up IIRC !!!!
