225 appearances.... 38 tries and 674 goals !!!!
John was first and foremost a lovely bloke but a really fit and tough player as well, which was borne out by the fact that at one point of that career he made 92 consecutive appearances for the FC. He was a good player and a great kicker at a time when we were going through a really difficult period. His father owned an engineering firm in the West Riding and he drove over to training twice a week for 9 years in his Dads company limousine at a time when Alf Macklin used to come on his bike and Alf used to really rag him about that!! He was in the team that won us the Yorkshire Cup for the first time in 46 years at Headingley against Featherstone in September 1969 and kicked two goals in a 12-9 victory. But man was he a great exponent of the conversion nd penalty from any angle. Top Bloke and one that will always be remembered. And another loyal servant joins the rest of the FC guys in the Sky!
RIP John Maloney.
