would it be a good idea to have a separate thread where fans can post where they have booked flights accommodation etc so others can have a look? Might be useful especially if it can save a few quid for people who are having to find money for what could be the trip of a lifetime. The thread could also serve as a Q & A section for fans where forum users based over there could answer some queries as well as seasoned travellers who have been before. The thread could also be a sticky, so that those of us who can't book a trip for a while yet (me included) can refer back to it when the time comes to book.

I live in Melbourne and Sydney is not known for rail Trains can be expensive and not like Europe at all Uber is very cheap here However here is a must to save $$$$$ from arrival There is a train at Sydney airport - use it to get to central Sydney You are looking at 6 quid a pint minimum probably 8 quid in Sydney Much better off buying cold cans from Off licence and drinking in a park or the wine is very cheap in a box for example , depends on budget As long as you behave well people can drink around the many BBQ areas they provide for free Just bring your own sausages etc Aussies are quite particular about cleanliness and good social manners However having been on a couple of Barmy Army tours they absolutely love a great laugh and singing Aldi is cheap as chips here and the street food/ Vietnamese etc is to die for Wollongong will defo roll the carpet out and there will be loads to do And see for couple days It will be humid and around 30c Byron Bay is great for a departure from Sydney and Melbourne is the coolest city in Aus by a mile and an hour flight from Sydney My 50th lads weekend is in Wollongong so I can't wait

Flights - Try skyscanner and sign up to all the airlines for cheap deals. I've flown with British Airways, Etihad, Emirates, China Southern and Air China. All are pretty decent apart from Air China. DONT FLY WITH AIR CHINA.
Accommodation - Book asap, it's summer in Oz and all the sun chasers will be in Sydney. You'll find every thing on booking.com or if you're up for backpacking https://www.yha.com.au have the best (and most expensive) hostels. The ones in sydney city are in great locations.
Getting around - I used a app called Tripview, its got all the trains, buses, trams and ferry times on there. Get an opal card, it's cheaper and easier than going to the newsagent to get your tickets for every travel. You can get every where on the public transport.
Food - The Coles and Woolworths are the big supermarkets in the city, there hidden in the bottom of shopping mauls but easy enough to find. Eating out in sydney is superb, there's everything, from $10 dollar pub meals to some of the finest restaurants in the world. Everyone should visit http://theglenmore.com.au for brilliant views and $15 jugs. If your there for a special occasion and have a couple of bucks to spend try https://cafesydney.com.
ANZ stadium - Go on train. Theres a hotel outside the ground that has the better pre match atmosphere http://www.novotelsydneyolympicpark.com ... urant.html they usually put on a band and have a big segregated area. I wouldn't advise staying around there for more than 1 night.

Things to do - Climb the bridge, visit opera house (and bar), ferry to manly, bondi (i guess), cocktails @ shangria-li, the nelson hotel(rocks) and the quarryman(pyrmont) for beer lovers. Theres other beaches like shark bay and coogee which are better than Bondi, but you have to go.

Wollongong - if you get the train there stop off for food and a few drinks at http://www.thescarboroughhotel.com.au its close to the train station and is a great place to spend the after noon. Wollongong itself is a lovely town with a great beach, plenty of (seafood) restaurants and pubs. Well worth spending a few night there.

Absolutely beside myself with excitement about this trip. Plans well underway for me and my son Rob's trip, been looking for an excuse for years to visit friends and relatives.
So a question; I want to get a flag made. St Georges Cross with Hull badges in the corners and text across the horizontal bar. Where's the best place to get this and where can I get high def versions of the current and 80's badges?
I have to go to melbourne to visit friends for a few days in between the matches, or after the second game. what is the best mode of transport for this - its about a 9 hour drive isn't it? time isn't really an issue as i would quite like a road trip, maybe taking in a bit of the coast etc. is car hire similar to this country in terms of prices etc. how much are flights between sydney and melbourne and is there a budget airline for this? Is there a decent rail link. Also might factor in Adelaide as well

Fly. Jetstars about 50 quid return. It's a 9 hour direct drive, when I did the coast it took us about 14hr diving and we stopped the night every 3 hrs. If you wanna do a drive and you're going to Adelaide drive the great ocean road, it's miles better than the melbourne to sydney drive. I wouldn't bother doing the train it's 12hr overnighter.
