We survived for 7/8 years without them while they were languishing in the lower divisions.I'm sure we'll cope again

Maybe because for ordinary fans, sport is still about passion and rivalry, not business.

We've played them 4 times (including friendlies) a year for 10 seasons. We're bored of it. The fixture no longer attracts the crowds that it used to.

From a business point of view, the benefits to us as a club with Rovers gone far outweigh the revenue we lose from the 1 Rovers home fixture.

Exactly.

The incremental attendance difference from playing rovers compared to another club is around 5k. Once the SMC takes it's bite out of it, we really don't pocket that much. I had this debate on the Rovers board last week, and estimated it to be worth around £60-75k.

Considering we now have the pick of sponsorship and corporates in the city, as well as playing in bigger matches like we have done this season, that amount can be made back. We'd have to increase our average attendance by around 400 to cover it just from a match day revenue side of things.

I remember how Leeds fans laughed at Bradford's demise , ask them which fixture they miss most now ?

The difference being that we survived quite nicely without Rovers in SL for many, many years. And we will do again if necessary.

also the away fans only have to make one trip to Hull now and with City of Culture next year it might be a bigger benefit to FC.

Salford at home won't even come close to a Hull derby .

But hey , its a local thing , enjoy :thumb:

We were fine before they came up. A few 15k attendances.

Very much so. Hell of a drop - nearly landed in Zeebrugge.
