Don't know whether we're doing more of this, or just hearing more about it, but seems like our players are making a decent effort with presentation evenings at local youth rugby clubs. Feka seems to lead on this but plenty of others are frequently involved too. Has to be a good thing.

@hullfcofficial: This weekend players have supported presentations at @LambwathLions @SkirlaughRL @HullWykeArlfc & @easthullrugby https://t.co/GmzyhrPw83

FC PLAYERS GROWING COMMUNITY LINKS IN OFF-SEASON

The Hull FC players have been busy during the off-season visiting local junior clubs as the Black and Whites continue to grow their connections with community rugby league.
Every member of the first-team squad has attended presentation nights at junior clubs across the city and further afield.
Over 20 different junior sides saw FC stars such as Fetuli Talanoa, Kirk Yeaman, Leon Pryce and Jamie Shaul hand out trophies and pose for photos at their presentation evenings, with Hull FC’s Fanbassadors scheme strengthening the bond between community clubs and the Airlie Birds.
Community Club of the Year, Hull Wyke, were given an extra special surprise at their Under 9s presentation night when new signing Scott Taylor turned up to reveal the new 2016 Hull FC home shirt with the Airlie Bird.
Over 80 schools and local amateur clubs are now signed up to the Fanbassadors scheme, which offers discounted tickets to Hull FC home games in exchange for rewards such as player appearances and training sessions.
One reward saw forward Josh Bowden host ‘Prop Idol’ with other members of the first-team squad, coaching young amateurs how to play the position.
With all the local community clubs signed up to Fanbassadors, it’s not just rugby league teams that are getting involved.
Football teams (boys and girls), netball, rugby union and other sports clubs as well as schools and youth centres are all becoming a part of the Fanbassadors scheme.
Hull FC’s Jansin Turgut, who visited his amateur side West Hull’s Under 10s presentation night, said: “I remember been a junior player not so long ago and how much it means to them when first-team players take their time to come to presentations.
“It’s been great to be involved with the local community and all the players have really enjoyed meeting the juniors.
“Keeping a close bond between the club and the community is really important so the Fanbassadors scheme is perfect for that.”
For more information or to sign up your organisation to the club’s popular Fanbassadors scheme, email Fanbassadors Officer, Tom Gooch: tom.gooch@hullfc.com or call 01482 236516.

You are just hearing more about it. Both Hull clubs have always ensured that players are available for presentation evenings. I have noticed over the past few weeks that Hull are sending down a member of their community team to take photos of the nights.
I'm not sure that using Feka is the best example at the minute though. The next time he decides not to turn up at a presentation night without informing the club he needs to make sure his coach isn't attending the same event to meet up with friends! (He is normally very good though)

Thought that might be the case (not about Feka though!). Good to hear about it more though, PR push or not. In the past (a few years back) there was criticism on here re not doing enough so good that it's been addressed.

Rovers aren't as quick to send anyone, as we found out this year, no matter how many emails you send.

Something to also consider with our community work is that this year my sons team have been trained by Gaz Ellis, Leon Pryce, Jordan Thompson & Curtis Naughton, with Mark Sneyd coming to do another session early in the new year. I know other clubs have had members from the first team squad too. We're doing some great community work and it's about time the other club started to do similar, as both clubs had taken the local scene for granted for far too long.

It's been he'll of a lot better this year, which is the second year the Fanbassadors scheme has run.

They've listened to the feedback too and adapted some things.

The player visits predominantly have to be earned via a rewards system, luckily we've had enough to cover all our teams who've requested them.

Even Feka turned up on Friday ;-)

Good news, it sounded like we've upped the ante this year but as per the OP thought it could have just been better comms.

http://www.hullfc.com/page/1989/fanbassadors

I didn't know much about this scheme, but it sounds good - hopefully it will continue given this positive feedback:

"Hull FC continue to set the benchmark for fan engagement in Super League and are playing a leading role in introducing new fans to the game and encouraging junior participation. Fanbassadors is a superb concept."

Feka is spot on. He came down to Cott Tigers U15s when one of the dad's asked him on Twitter. Top bloke and one to keep around after his playing days are over!
