People keep banging on about the state of the ground and the salary cap that’s keeping fans away.
It’s winning games and playing like we have against Saints and Wigan that will bring fans back .
Every one wants to see their team play entertaining rugby and win games it’s as simple as that.
When Wakefield are on song I’m not looking around to see the cracks and peeling paint, I’m watching the team on the park.
Wakefield have a team now who on their day are a match for any team, we just need to be more consistent and the crowds will start Coming back.

Im convinced the Cap was kept artificially low to clip Salfords wings. The Dr would out spend all the bigger clubs and pose a threat to their star players. I always said as soon as he walks away the Cap will go up. The elite clubs will do everything in their power to bend the rules to their own advantage.

The other side of the coin is, you don't have to spend full cap to be competitive, our club is evidence of this.
Good housekeeping and spending wisely instead of throwinng money at it, is a very valid argument against cap limits

Maybe Lenighan and co ought to have a word with MC, CB and CC to see how it's done.

I would say that the club are doing a reasonable job of generating income within the current constraints of the club.
The key is extracting cash from all types and circumstances of fans
Corporate sponsors, committed fans, part-timer and lapsed fans.
Merchandise, club 1873 and trinity TV seem to be fairly successful.
Maybe we could hold a pre-match bbq/hog roast under the small roof on the western terrace with a bar. Say 1 till 2.30, ticket only, to maybe get some money from the con club beer garden type. Stewarding and moving back to North stand could be an issue, but could possibly be open to away fans too.

Not sure whether this still exists Phe13, but I may have a couple if answers to your question how clubs stay under the the cap.

The RFL used to reward club with certain aspects of their squad, and then gave them a discount in the salary cap.

Things such as player retention, so continuous service was one I recall, as was when the England Knights train on squad was announced. The academies the selected players came from, got a credit even if they no longer played for them. It was something like £30k per player.

Look at Leeds for example up to 2-3 seasons ago, they had Winfield, McGuire and Burrow all with over 10 years service. That would have been £90k

There were others too, but can't quite remember the inns and outs, and like I said not sure whether or not these still exist

Crowds will never come back to BV, winning team or not, look at last season we won plenty of games and matches we lost were great entertaining close matches. People of Wakefield still didn't come to watch, promotion to SL year we won approx 20 games out of 24, only 1200 came to watch. Wakefield people will watch game on TV in pub for free. When Glover was running the job he was giving away free tickets all over the place, they were been copied plus anyone could walk in for free anyway, still Wakey folk didnt come. The only positive has been the tremendous growth in Corporate, massive pat on the back to MC and his team, especially Verity in the growth they have achieved in this area. Corporate guests spend money at the game. We need to move out of BV, preferably out of Wakey, to an area that has a chance of growth in support, suggest a Rugby Union area where potential supporters are not looking to cut a penny in half, somewhere where the local council would appreciate MC and the franchise. I think we should grasp the opportunity and see if Wasps RU are still interested in a RL franchise to play out of Coventry.

I've an idea, why don't we move to Dewsbury or better still Coventry, apparently the fans wouldn't come to Bellevue for free but would be willing to travel afield to watch us, how does that work then? wonder if all the fans that use the corporate facilities would travel down to Coventry for a meal, perhaps we could have a double header and watch the Wasps as well, it's a good idea though we can't get them through the gates at Bellevue but I bet as sure as hell we'd pack em in at Coventry, can't wait meself.

I thought towards the back end of last season the fans were coming back. The Wigan away game at the start of this season we took six coaches, now we have one or two. The fans are there but but they're not going to watch a side that has played like we have for most of the season. It takes time to get the fans confidence back after so many years.

At the end of the day more income is the issue for Wakefield.....whether corporate or gate.

Just out of interest, what does the benidorm flats bring in, in terms of hospitality money? does that go to trin or to the landlords?
