I don't see any advantage to Wakefield to let him go on loan.
If they sell him then fair enough.
But for me we still need him so would only loan him short term to somewhere like Bradford where he'll be looked after.

Plus Roberts will be fine for Cas and if not they have a kid who played pretty well in preseason and Eden who can play there well enough.

ben Roberts was terrible last week.......he was no where in the finals last year either...

always had the rep over here that he didn't perform in big games...

as per my tips I am hoping WIDNES beat them this week! I tipped cass are not going to finish as high this year---- let the slide begin I say

Well as they finished top that isn't too risky a bet.

Roberts was poor but that doesn't mean Powell will suddenly drop him and go get a second team player from somewhere else.
Although I don't think he's better he could just as easily go for Golding from Leeds who has big game experience. Or Hanbury from Widnes who might fancy a go higher up. Or Escare who is possibly behind Tomkins.

From Jowitt's perspective a move like this would really benefit him. Two years ago he was Super League Rookie of the year following an outstanding season for us. He's just had a year of stagnation with very little top level experience. In relative terms he's really gone backwards.

Vastman - when you're not spouting pure hatred and bile about Cas, you talk a lot of sense. You obviously know the game well and are passionate about it. If you tell me Max Jowitt is a superior player to the players I mentioned (Golding and Evalds) ; I'll believe what you say. I am desperate for us to get a FB because I don't believe Roberts has the mental or physical capacity to play there. However, I don't think Powell will give up on him after 1 week. There might be more substance us coming after a FB if we get humbled by Widnes though.

As for us not sending anyone decent your way, didn't Scott Moore and Tansey have really good games in the MPG ? Even if their spells with you overall weren't great, that game alone made their spells at least worth while . As for Owen, well you've got 2 bloody good wingers now and that's just how it goes

I've always thought it unfortunate for us to have on one side of in in Leeds the most insensitive yet arrogant fans. Whilst on the other side the most sensitive yet nearly as arrogant Cas fans.

You lot should re- read some of the stuff you lot post especially on that echo chamber you wrongly call a forum.

I don't hate Cas if you think that's hatred and bile don't ever visit a football forum!

If your going to play with the misters which you do and get cocky when you win which you do then you have to be ready to get shot at as indeed will we when our purple patch comes to an end.

A lot of Cas fans buy into this classy Cas small town done good idea and believe everyone else does. Truth is they do when your not a real threat but last year when you were boy didn't they turn.

At least I/we are not patronising you, our antagonism is genuine - not a fair weather rivalry it's for real. Your the number one target for most Trin fans these days. That imho is a compliment but we are never going to be nice.

Tbf the political element in WMDC has added to the bitterness on occasions which imho isn't a good thing but who can blame us - I think you know exactly who's caused that and it ain't us.

How can I be a troll I've been a Wakey fan for over 50 years & love the club & go to most games. But I've watched Jowitt very closely His defence is very poor & as i said he is without doubt a great attacker & gets most of his plaudits from that. If people read into that I'm a troll just because I expressed a view I'm sorry I have an opinion. but I've watched him since he started playing for the 1'st team & it's just something that I've noticed.

It's not very poor, it's a kid who made the step up to an exposed position earlier than anticipated. His goal line defence needs work on of course, as does Grix's even now. But look back to the Farts game and his effort on McGillvary in 2016 and tell me he can't tackle.

Its no different, but circumstances are.
We took Hadley from a team we weren't expected to be directly in competition with, course we play them twice but we weren't expecting to be competing with them near the top of the league, and I doubt the Codheads did either.
If you don't expect us to be competing with Cas in the upper echelons, I guess its ok to loan him out for game time.
I don't see it like that though, we're close enough and I hope not daft enough to potentially provide advantage to anyone in that group.
Course, its early in the season, who knows, we might not, but right now we've every reason to be quietly confident..:)

Part of the point i'm making with Hadley is, the loan system is now being 'abused' for want of a better word in my opinion. It was originally brought in when a team had a genuine injury crisis, and a couple of clubs would help out with a couple of players for a month or two, that wasn't why we got Hadley was it. What is dual reg. for?? As for Jowitt, if he's deemed good enough by the best team of last season to get into their starting 13, then if he goes, good luck to him, him playing for them is not going to stop us from winning games is it? I'm not entirely convinced that Chester sees him as the replacement for Grix when he does finish, but that's just it, we will find out in due course whether he will be the one who takes over the full back role permanently.

I'm sure Widnes fans will be delighted if Cas just fancy Hanbury for a bit eh?!?! You can't just go looking round all the clubs and say, yeah we'll have him for a bit, and him for a bit longer......every team announced their squads for the season, they've had an off season to add players, unless you have a major injury crisis, you should be made to go with what you announced as your squad. So you'd be happy if Wigan fancied Fifita for a couple of months, and then throw in Ashurst for good measure! The game's in a bad enough state without clubs just picking up players left right and centre when it suits them!
