I disagree, Mr Micheal Carter and the club are one and the same in this issue and the club was always intrinsic to the deal. There certainly wouldn’t have been a PI and there’d have been no need for the Officer of the SoS to visit Leigh Sports Village and Wheldon Rd had it not been for the needs of Wakefield Trinity to be met as part of the deal.

The new stadium and community facilities were never two seperate issues with regard to the Newmarket proposal and there is now a responsibility with Wakefield Trinity to see that the deal as proposed is fulfilled.

IMO if the club accepts the new stadium deal with no signed and sealed deal for the Community facilities then they’re abdicating that responsibility and will become little better than the others who’ve profited from the removal of the green belt land.

While Im a big Trinity fan I’m also a citizen of Wakefield and feel the provision of Community facilities for the city is as vital, if not more so, as the stadium.

The stadium will still be a community stadium which was the biggest community facility in the project. Looking at the plans for Newmarket the other community facilities were a couple of all weather pitches which could be pushed for elsewhere in the City or put them on the Newmarket development. It was never planned to be a Leigh Sports Village, that would have been perfect in the park but we know what happened there.

The club has no responsibility to fight for the Community sports element of the development, is that what’s being said here?

No, we get community stadium sorted to secure our Cities only pro sports clubs long term future and still push for the other promised community facilities.

The club is a business. It's responsibility is precisely to, 'get a stadium and move on'. Trinity have clearly been sh@t upon from a great height as have the people of Wakefield. But MC's first responsibility is to ensure the future of the club. The question is, whose job is it to hold the council to account and endure the community facilities are built? I would say that responsibility lies with the Trust and the people of Wakefield. The club's responsibility goes no further than being a member of the Trust. Let's get a decent stadium and secure the club's future and let others fight for the community facilities.

Totally agree. The reality is if we pull out of the BV deal to push for everything now we'll probably end up losing our SL place, and perhaps with no deal at all.

I don't think anyone disagrees with your sentiment least of all me. There has been a crime committed here! However where we differ is in who's responsibility it is to pursue the culprits.

It certainly isn't the clubs. It is the Trust of which I believe MC is a member. Assuming he remains on the Trust he will actively support there aims. My own opinion FWIW actually differs from yours in one key respect.

I think the community element will be far easier to obtain with Trinity out of the equation. Not least for Box who will find it far easier to justify on a political and economic level.

It's wrong I know and how we have got here beggars belief and frankly I still don't believe it will happen. That said we are where we are and pragmatism has to come into play - that is the reality of life.

We need to get BV back to something like, make the club a massive part of the cities life. That's when you'll get movement, it may take a while but what options are there?

People say the Trust and the club have been pushed into a corner - they are right but just look at the apparatus we are dealing with. The UKs largest metropolitan district versus a handful of well meaning individuals and a RL club with a very dubious past and a small bank balance.

If we get anything out of this it's a victory because I can guarantee you that 15 years ago we were not even on Box's radar and we still wouldn't be if we hadn't rallied round. We will win in the end and the real villains Box and his cronies will be brought to task.

All that said there is one other group of people who are culpable and that's the Wakefield public. Nobody seems to care. The opposition don't care, no councillor or MP has taken up the torch. No local newspaper not anybody. It's been in the public domain for years but the wider Wakefield public don't seem to give a stuff as to where 90 million pounds has gone, whether they be the man on the street or high society. It's not just the the job of the Trust, the Club or even the Council, people need to care and they just don't and in some ways Wakefield has got exactly what it deserves.

WAKEFIELD TRINITY - The PRIDE of Sporting Wakefield

THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS

IMO the club doesn't have a responsibility to fight for the community element, however that doesn't mean they won't.

I don't see Michael Carter walking away from putting pressure on the Council and Yorkcourt to deliver what was promised, he doesn't seem like that kind of guy. I get the impression from his statements that he feels an injustice will have been carried out and will continue to give any action his full backing, but to him the priority at this moment in time has to be Wakefield Trinity.

The point is though that it is the Trust that has the responsibility to pursue it and not the club.

Certainly not. All I'm saying is politically and financially the stadium is the hardest part of this to deliver. Although it is a community stadium, it's very much seen as Trinity's stadium. The council can hide behind the club over the failure to deliver that. They can't hide behind the failure to deliver the other elements therefore political pressure and media exposure will be far greater. We all know how these weasels work. Start asking difficult questions and applying some outside pressure and watch them squirm.

Reading yesterday's press conference with MC and one of our sponsors, new 6 year deal. In the article it mentions (hopefully) Wakefield Community Stadium is imminent I maybe reading too much into but hopefully a good sign.
