What because I support my team - yep utterly bizarre but then only Cas fans can do that oh wait there I go again me and my silly optimism oh and that cup on my shoulder.

You just proved my point Vasty. People have a different opinion to yours and you take it as a personal attack - you're going at your own fellow fans for not hanging onto your every word and it's very ironic given that you seem to think Cas fans live in their own 'bubble'

To an extent he's right FWIW I don't think you do, nor some others but a fair few do. The years of being on this forum have
shown to some extent he's correct, to a point.

That is the case for a lot of fans, however for someone to think they are immune from criticism is ridiculous.

My question is why do you even care.

My philosophy is that we will finish top and certainly above Cas. If I'm proved wrong and I always am about finishing top so be it but at least I start on a high.

But then I'm not typical of Trinity fans some of whom seem to delight in wallowing in defeatist self pity after 40 minutes of a friendly and then carry on their love affair with Cas - and I don't mean you by the way knowing your ability to misinterpret my every post.

Why not save the misery fest till the end of the season and if you must pat Cas and their Condecending fans on the back at least do so when they have actually done something.

Let's concentrate on our lads, if we aren't willing to be confident why the he'll should we expect them to be. Cue one of belly's Maurice Bamfordesque rants about the 70's and how great they were :-)

In RL terms they are the enemy if we forget that we'll become there second team like we were in the 1990's - trust me you can't trust them ;-)

I hesitate to justify myself Vasty but I will do anyway.
This is a discussion about the Cas friendly. I went to the game and through my own limited brain assessed what was going on during the game. That as a Wakefield supporter is mainly about my team but I am also watching the other team, as I'm just clever enough to do both.
My watching what Cas does in no way diminishes my loyalty or passion for Wakefield Trinity.
We are going to play them again this season and it's handy to know how they'll fair. I would go as far as to say if they are on Sky, playing another team I will watch and again in no way will that take anything away from me being a Wakefield Trinity supporter.
I wonder how you decided that Wigan, Sts, Warrington and Hull are better than Cas without being able to watch them? Is it only Cas I'm not allowed to comment on because I go far enough back that Leeds were always our bitter rivals and for that matter Fev when we played them on Boxing Day.

So in summary, get over yourself.

Getting back on topic .... it was a decent run out for both teams, first half lacking our two main props the cas pack and an excellent kicking game from gale saw us pinned in our own half for about twenty-thirty minutes. They tired and our substitutes were better than theirs - but at the end of the day its always good to beat our local rivals even at fiddly winks

There were some real positives from me - thought grix was safe and great under high ball, caton brown showed some nice touches and is pushing for bjb wing slot, tiny arona was pick of forwards, but danny kirmond looks really fit and hungry, miller and williams got a first opportunity to play and get rid of some ring rust. Wood looked decent. When alls said and done its still preseason

Bit disappointed with first half, very happy with result

I don't need to get over mysellf thanks.

I suppose it a difference in the interpretation of being a fan.

I don't like reasonable because that's not what it's all about to me. I wouldn't pat Cas on the back if they had just won the CCup, Wimbledon and the FIFA World Cup and I prefer the Cas fans who feel the same way.

I don't hate people from Cas except when the issue is RL then I do and I think it's great and has saved the club.

When I started watching us in 1988 we had no special games as nobody really gave a stuff about us we had lost that much ground against our once great rivals. Even on the occasions we won it was always just a fluke and even our own fans barely got excited. However in the last 30 year it's changed. We annoy Leeds and we are getting more annoying by the year.

However Cas is now a real rivalry especially since 2006 and even if they try to pretend otherwise being ahead of us is their number one aim and ditto us.

If this were not the case we wouldn't of had the attendance for a friendly that Salford will struggle to get as an average. This doesn't happen out of mutual back slapping it happens through passion.

I'm happy to justify my stance - I'm Trinity all the way and have no interest in other teams or fans. When we win it's because we are great and when we lose we are still great.

I have no time for appeasers, defeatists, turncoats, moaners, bleeding hearts or liberals of any sort. I detest Cas they are the enemy and always will be. Long live the rivalry i say.

Finally I know what your thinking, what happens if it goes to far and someone gets hurt - go on you were thinking that. I really hope it doesn't and I don't think it will but you can't sanitise life totally and it's these kind of fierce rivalries that really give an otherwise dull competition some meaning.

So there you are I'm just an old fashioned fan - a bit like that Ripping Yarns guy but without the furniture smashing fetish.

Sorry but you are wrong!

Any Trinity fan of any reasonable standing knows that Cas are an inconvenience... but the true enemy... who shal be detested beyond all other... is Leeds!
