It's strange. I know many of us myself included post on here in a more strident and emotional way than we do face to face. However the posting Belly as opposed to the real one are so far apart it's hard to reconcile them - has his account been hacked! I know all about alter ego's and wind ups but this one is getting really extreme and oddly personal in a targeted way.

Oh well....

EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN

Re: Grix announced : Tue Sep 27, 2016 2:46 pm
Grim has played in the second row too, I think. I think he's a good signing because you can never fault him for effort and commitment.

It always felt to me, even right back to his Widnes days, that he played at full back because there was nowhere else to play him. He was suspect for a long time under the high ball but you could tell from his technique that he worked hard on that aspect. I've always said that he is one of those players who is a fine player but there was always someone better than him in whatever position he chose. He is a great utility player and I can see him going well in the second row.

Freudian slip there mate?

Don't ever remember him playing in the second row to be honest, loose forward i think but nowhere else in the pack. Could be wrong though. Has played anywhere 1-7 though, although these days he has slowed down a bit so might not be as effective. Time will tell how it will go but still would have gone with one year and an option for the second.

This thread is a reasonable discussion as far as I am concerned and I would like to make a couple of further points.

First of all, isn't it nice to hear from shudds fans telling us how good grix is and he will be an excellent signing for US !!!
but not good enough to play for THEM!!!! very codecending as usuall , so nothing changes there.

Secondly the reason there is so much discussion is that its not directly about Grix but what he represents. To me once more it shows a lack of ambition and imagination.

People are saying a lot of good things about Grix and no doubt he has earned those respecfull comments for what he has done over the years, However JD earned similar and even better comments but he went on at least one season too long and that is my main worry with Grix. After all I clearly remember that dross called Reilley who came to us from shudds with identical praise from their fans.

He's good enough for us that's for sure. We don't currently have a better fullback.

Don't forget who starts the next season as a top 8 side.
I believe you've signed a top 8 side fullback. If he hadn't of been injured and had played more games I believe we would of avoided the bottom 4. He was that important to us. Only a handful of giants fans would agree though.
That is just my opinion though.

Well TRB, we're still waiting for a new ground so some might say we didn't get it to work. ;)

Through all the moaning about Grix, if you look a bit deeper into the possible reason a 32 year old has been given a 2 year deal.
It maybe because he has and is in top shape condition wise.
I'll leave the rest open to interpretation.

I've not said he's not good enough for us- I wish he was staying!
As for Reilly- cut him in half he had Huddersfield running through his middle. Claret and gold runs through his veins. He was gutted to be leaving his hometown club and suffered from depression as a result- not dealt with well by either your club or ours at the time.
Paul Reilly was and is a legend at Huddersfield. He didn't have the passion for your club he did for ours. Sometimes it's just like that. Calling Reilly dross is absolutely unimaginable to us!

On a more serious note I really wonder if Kear has the final say.
If Kear signs players who chester is doesn't rate then its a recipe for disaster and friction within the club. After all, get the signings wrong and its Chesters head on the block.
I would be interested to know how it all pans out.
