The off season is usually pretty quiet and to all intents and purposes ours began after the semi final. These last seven games have basically been about as important as Leeds on Boxing Day.

Since the semi-final loss, the only joy I've felt watching Trin was the Hull game, where at least I came away thinking we were the best side and that we were robbed. Other than that, my belly is full and it's been pretty depressing to watch!

Does that mean I don't love the club, or that I don't agree that we did outstandingly well up to the semi-final, or that I won't be buying another season ticket - no, but it does mean that I'm actually happy to take a break from it and await the final make up of next years squad - when we can truly evaluate the merits of each individual signing.

This season was well and truly beyond anyone's most optimistic prediction and everyone should be very happy with that.
However, even with a crocked squad, to finish the season with so many losses almost eradicates the superb first part of the season, especially with the 3 x 8 format, which has been bloody awful for Trinity and it's fans.

Always leave people wanting more, is a decent way to run any kind of entertainment but, we have all been desperate for the season to end.

There have been some massive pluses this year.

Making the top 8, cup semi final and blooding so many youngsters (and the incredible rise in status of Johnstone & Jowitt).

However, the harsh reality is that we will be the bookies favourites for the wooden spoon next season and persuading the tight fisted, apathetic Wakefield public to part with £250 for season tickets at a level to boost our recruitment (to a level that can see us back competing for the top 8 ) will require a modern day miracle.

So yes, there is certainly a huge amount of apathy.

Think there are two discussions here.

Was the end of the season cause some apthy amongst fans then yes certainly some - it wasn't great I agree. Will it matter, nah I already think MC had a budget and that's not changed. Fans as ever will return if we start the season well.

Were the players to blame with poor attitude. On one or two games perhaps but over all definitely not, down to pure fatigue and lack of numbers in key positions.

Let's study the facts here. For starters 2015's team was the worst I've ever seen, not on paper where they actually looked stronger than this years but on the pitch, awfull! So with that in mind creating a team in one season capable of challenging in the top eight was never on, getting there alone was the miracle.

By the time we'd hit the s8's we were missing our three best forwards England, Kirmond and Ashurst whilst the supposed start signing Tupou never got started.

Fafita arrived arived late, unfit with no closed season but did OK but alone he was never gonna turn the tide.

We had a 32 year old S/H who player 32 games in a row, come on folks! He deserves a medal for getting himself on the pitch let alone playing quite well - ditto Miller who IMHO will never be able to run a game still managed 30 games and played brilliantly in some.

Arguably the only player we had that genuinly had the class and the brains to move the whole team up a notch spent much of the season in RL jail - I think unjustified others may not.

Then finally our two most potent attacking hopes turned out to be a 19 and a 20 year old.

Only a blind man couldn't see us failing in the 8's and in many ways we did better than expected as we should have beaten both Hull and Catalan.
