As often seems to happen round about this time of the season, the league has split into 3 groups. We're in the middle group for once which is great. What is unusual this season is quality of teams in the bottom group. Salford, in terms of ability and performance, should be in the middle group - it's only the points deduction that puts them in the bottom group. Huddersfield are improving but seem inconsistent. They may well be in the middle 8's but will be a very strong team that battle. Hull KR's position seems to reflect their performance and will probably stay in that bottom group. Leeds seem shot and won't get out of the botto group and may well struggle in the middle 8's (watch out for some emergency recruitment). Given all that there could be some movement between the bottom and middle groups this year. Can't see Cas dropping out of the middle group. St Helens are too high in the group and seem more a team just missing out on the top group. That leaves Widnes and ourselves . Widnes could just be beginning to get their mojo back and we may be running out of gas.
All this makes this week's fixture realy important. Widnes are likely to lose at Hull and if we win then it becomes unlikely we will drop into the bottom group. The other way round and we will be in a much more precarious position. We can do it and Chris Chester has all the motivation to beat KR so let's all get behind them and be the "extra man". Then we can really begin to relax just a little.
