Every organisation has to have a structure; in this context, I'd suggest it's about creating a clear, defined pathway from youth to first team, with coaching staff working on the same core skills, conditioning and plays. I would also imagine that all the coaching staff report in to the HC in some way and their work is directed and overseen by him, so that when he gets a young player who has come through the academy (providing Shudds don't nick him) he can reasonably expect that they will know what he wants from them by way of training, preparation and recovery.
There'll be plenty of other elements to the structure of the club, but that's just one example; in organisational terms, it's far from a fashionable word - it's essential to help create stability, accountability and a positive culture.

Do we not already have that pathway?! as in the fact that this season Johnstone, Crowther etc have played first team rugby. The coach whoever that maybe has to decide in his opinion whether that player is ready to play first team rugby. Obviously we don't really know what goes on behind closed doors so to speak, as to how much involvement a coach has in the day to day running of everything, from who makes the tea to who washes the kit to who signs the cheques Sorry, thanks for trying but still none the wiser to be honest!
