Danny Washbrook : Mon Mar 02, 2015 1:04 pm
There weren't many positives from yesterday but as I was sat in the stand, cold and a bit miserable I started to notice how many times DW was making the tackle in the middle.
It's not like he was rushing from wing to wing to make cover tackles but as they were coming at us in waves down the middle and we were stuggling in forwards it started to become obvious. He wasn't third man in either. He was leading the tackles.

I checked his stats and he has averaged 42 tackles per game so far, with 1 miss per game.
I haven't got the individual ones from the game but I expect his stats will be massive

Considering he took a fair few drives too, I thought he needed singling out ona day of negatives.
The rest need to take note.

He probably wasn't far off our best forward in attack too. Not that that was saying much yesterday but I also noticed he put in a really good stint yesterday, much more than some others did.

For me, Paea was our most potent forward in "attack", he seemed to be the only forward making any yardage.
Washy is a tackling machine and this I think was the reason that Agar brought him over from Hull, great effort.

Saying on the way home that Washy was our stand out player, you can only tackle so many until you miss one ,I'm sure Betts would have singled him out to be run at.Our right side defence was awful.By the way Pop Tart, was it you who got my father inlaws ticket for your dad?

Danny is very good at assisting in a tackle , but one on one is more often than not taken back in the tackle and is brushed off very easily . as Kevin Brown showed . The whole performance was pathetic and reminded me of Huddersfield and Hull KR under JWs tenure

The trouble with Washbrook is when on attack he does nothing flash for most of the time so it don't get noticed as such but if fans made a point of watching him a lot closer then you would see that he gets through a fair amount of work when we have the ball let alone in defence. One of those players that you don't realise how good he is until he has gone

I'd agree with you, apart from the fact that he was often the first in the tackle and didn't get brushed off.
And which JW do you mean? I don't remember Webster being at Huddersfield.

I think he menas the 2 games near the end of last year against Hudds and Hull KR, where we went 30-0 in both games at half time.

At the time Hudds was disappointing because we were on a good run and could have made the 8 with a result. But putting it in perspective, we ran out of steam a bit towards the end of last season, undefeated in 5 out of 6 games going into that Hudds game.

Hull KR imo was a bit of a nothing game, having done what we needed and we rested players that needed surgeries for this year.
