I have been 4 times and have done the following.
Driven down and back (I had been in Limoges for a week then drove down to Perpignan) stayed in campsite in can't roussilon, this was pretty cheap for a family of 5 with it coming in at around £400 in total, however the drive back was a killer and I'd never do it again.
Flown to barcelona hired a car and stayed near canet, this was when we took the Crigg allblacke U11's there and they played at half time, was pretty reasonable but a 110 mile drive.
Flown to gerona and drove to canet, which was a 70 mile drive and again reasonable.
Last time I went I flew to Montpellier then drove to canet. This was very easy drive was around 90 miles but simple, flights were very cheap went fri-mon and digs were £180 to sleep 5.
The one thing I would say is, stop in canet for the Saturday night, it's fab, you will meet all the players from both sides and some other visitors, the beach there is one of the best I've ever been on, around 10 miles long and 400m wide all sand. Flights to Montpellier are cheap, for the weekend of the Wakey game they are around £100 at the moment (as are ones to gerona) I am trying to plan to go this year but the lack of holidays available are not helping, public transport from canet to the ground last time I went worked out at about €2:50 return each, buy beer in supermarkets as its €4-6 a pint, other than the bar on the corner next to the ground. Eat out of the takeaways rather than restaurants as they are expensive.
