Don't get me started on cyclists

There may be about 5% of them that are alright, the rest are just a danger to themselves and everyone else on the road.....many of them deserve to be mowed down.....the amount I regularly see just going straight through red lights beggars belief. Also hate the ones who ride side by side....regularly shout out of the window at them

I know there's masses of bad car drivers on the road, but cyclists are worse by far!!


Oh....and under that bridge down near Thornes Park has been bad for flooding ever since I was a lad....usually takes about an hours worth of rain and it's flooding....

So much to go at there, I'm not sure where to start.

Perhaps your suggestion that cyclists 'deserve' to be mowed down will be some comfort to the widow of a friend of mine, who was killed instantly by a HGV whilst waiting to pull away at traffic lights?

I said 'many' of them.....that being the many that I see who have absolutely no regard for rules of the road!....and there's a hell of a lot from my experience....

Cyclists and Taxi drivers are exempt from the law.

Don't get this bit about cyclists and the road. Most people on bikes these days are on the pavement., and seem to think they have a right to be there.

I expect some cyclists take to the pavement because of the attitude of our friend above.

I drive about 3000 miles a month all over the north of the UK in many of it's towns an cities and in the main cyclist behavior and standrds of competence is poor, there is a distinct majority of cyclist who feel they have a right to enter and leave the main highway as and when they desire, missuse "Pedestrian" crossings and cycle lanes and seem to have very little grasp of the "Rules" of the road, namely the highway code, however, there is also a very high percentage of 4 wheel road users (and even more wheels in the case of wagons) that show a similar, if not worse grasp of the highwaycode and disrespect to other road users

BTW the comment previous about "Mowing Down" is out of order and almost "Clarkesonesque" no one deserves injury/fatality just because of their chosen mode of transport

Cyclists take to the pavement at times for their own safety knowing that their vehicle of choice is not a potential killing machine that a car is. Having best part of a tonne of metal careering around at speed is a lot more dangerous in the hands of a lunatic than a pushbike.

As someone who cycles and drives, I am more frustrated at other drivers driving badly than a cyclist seeking to gain a bit of time by opting to risk things by jumping a light or by hopping on to the pavement.

Drivers texting, talking on phone, rebuking kids in back, smoking, not concentrating, speeding, not checking mirrors, driving too close to car in front, pulling out without looking, are all more likely than a cyclist causing an accident themselves I would have imagined.

Exactly, it amazes me when I'm out on my bike at the amount of drivers who haven't got a clue how to overtake you, they tend to hang on you're back wheel making you feel very nervous. Or the complete pricks who seem to find it funny by seeing how close they can get to you, or some bells ends even swerve into you to impress their mates, seriously you couldn't make it up. Everyone already knows how many bad drivers they are around but until you go out on a bike you ain't seen nothing.
