I hear your thoughts - but I take back none of what I said. BJ is at Wakefield for 3 years. We all can choose between getting behind the lad and trying to milk him for the best we can make him, or we can single him out for what, IMO (and that's all it is) is unfair criticism - based on what exactly? What I do know is that none of this is going to help anyone, except our opposition - the other teams that we play but, it could just be that, if we get behind our man, he could perform better for us.

I do apologise for the inference re 'supporters'. In clarity I was referring to the dictionary version - i.e. that of providing support - towards the individual, and not the wider, populist, version of whether you 'support' the club or not - that is a gimme. I do however think that there are too many on here who's sole perverse pleasure is the dismantling of a player, quickly followed by the phrase 'I told you so' - as if the 2 are completely unrelated!

Why the hell do we need a 'Scapegoat' anyway!

You tell me.

Regarding the why don't we get behind the lad?

This is the nature of sport?!
Why can't man u fans get behind berbatov? Why do we (england) have an aussie coach? Is martin johnson good enough as england coach? etc etc etc
-Should we just support them no end.

This is sport and Britain people debate, criticise, analyse the mertis of coaches, managers, bod.
If supporters got behind everyone within their team they'd be very few signings no sackings no changes at the top management structure blah blah.

It's not going to happen so why try and stop it.

Re: Scapegoat : Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:31 pm
Perhaps if he'd have had more options from the runners he may well have made better use of the ball, has that ever hit home with anyone??? Gleeson and George hit about 4 good angles between them all game, when they ran them they got the ball and made the yards/breaks. Hendo and Moore basically played as extra props carting the ball up the middle (something Moore did very well along with Korki and King). When BJ has more runners and options to choose from lets rate him then, the likes of Morrison, JD and hopefully Millard should give the defense much more to think about thus making BJs job far easier. I expect Jeffries to be back to his 2004 form and I think him Morrison and Millard will form a great partnership comparable to when Sol and Sid were here.

that very well maybe the case who knows yet, but some of the criticisms of people making what i see as pertinent and relevant points about a new signing have been as silly as some of the posts by the usual suspects on this forum who get continually derided imo

There was some things I saw from BJ that left me a little optomistic and I think the spell at Bradford could have improved his game. As mentioned before it was his vision that created the first try.
I also think when he has the back rowers of Morrison,Johnson, JD etc running off him he will go OK.

Re: Scapegoat : Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:44 pm
Maybe so but people need to understand the game if they are going to criticise/praise players (not a go at you by the way). ie Hendo deserves praise for the heart determination and effort he shows week in week out against much bigger opposition. However thats all you're gunna get from him, some games you need that grit and determination others you need someone more flambouyant and skillful. On here people either see Hendo as great or total rubbish, he is neither but for me hes a good squad who will do what is asked of him for what I would imagine will be a relatively small wage.

TBF i think BJ is an ideal partner for DB in the halves. For me there personalities should mesh well. Broughy will call the shots at first receiver, whilst BJ cruises around a bit wider. I think they will go well. You cant judge a thing by one friendly at xmas.

My apologies to anyone who takes offence at my comments.

I merely wish to support the player as part of the team / club that I support - but I am happy to concede to genuine, contructive, criticism.

As I have no appetite for 'falling out' over this, I will refrain from this thread.

Enjoy!

Why do we think that the ex Bulls will perform any better with us than they did in a very poor side or that B J has improved his game any with that experience
