Great to finally see a female wrestler who can talk and be entertaining.

AJ's a natural. Helps that she's white hot as well.

I agree mate. In my opinion there has been too much overkill by WWE over the last ten years in terms of bikini models and 'Divas' who don't know how to work (the Diva Search series were a big factor in this). An almost-endless amount of women have been and gone, so it's great when you get the odd one come along who can connect with people either in the ring or on the mic. The little bits I've seen of AJ she's played her role with Daniel Bryan very well.

Hope the mods don't mind me plugging an upcoming wrestling show in Hull. It's happening on Sunday 22nd July at the Bonus Arena (next door to the KC Stadium), and features an appearance by British legend Kendo Nagasaki, as well as TNA wrestler Winter. Have already got a ticket, sounds like it should be an excellent event in what I believe is a very nice venue for wrestling (holding I think anywhere upto 1500 fans):

I disagree.

Punk, Bryan, Jericho, Ziggler (ESPECIALLY Ziggler), Rhodes, Del Rio, Sheamus are all good enough to carry off a World Title reign. And that's without adding in your two WWE faces in Cena and Orton.

Punk v Bryan (WWE) and Ziggler v Rhodes (WHC) would be the stuff of dreams at Mania.

RAW last night, can someone please send Tensai back to Japan? I find him incredibly infuriating. On the plus side, Heath Slater's segment again was pretty well worked; everyone expected him to get squashed, but he actually won a match this time - before falling foul of the Diamond Cutter!

I was disappointed by the crowd's response to DDP, can imagine a bunch of kids there asking why Christian's grandad was giving Slater an RKO.

Any word on Paddy Power or any other bookies offering odds on MITB? Or have the pulled it after OTL? I think they took a hammering on Cena v Big Show as they suspended it way before the show.

I have a few inklings on what's gonna happen. (Paddy Power if you read this I don't really)

AJ was a wrestling nut long before she got anywhere near the business and my god does it show.
Note to WWE this is what happens when you don't go searching modelling agencies and actually look at women who can wrestle and/or have the mic skills to carry it off instead.
Plus WWE you may have noticed that she hasn't had fake breasts fitted and she doesn't look a freak because of it (Credit to AJ for sticking to her guns over this BTW).

I saw on another site that someone had still classed AJ as a solid 10(in looks) anyway.
I'm not so sure but the point still stands.

AJ is supposed to have lost it and has become deranged, She is also supposed to be torn between Punk and her previous feelings for Bryan as well as having made a previous play for Kane.
Taking all that into account then no you are not supposed to know what she is doing.
She is playing the part brilliantly IMHO.

Re: Men in Lycra - the Wrestling thread : Tue Jul 03, 2012 8:03 pm
People may disagree with me but I starting to feel a little sorry for TNA - I don't think they're getting what they deserve at the moment.

Some of the segments and storylines may still be trainwrecks but what I really like at the moment is they are constantly trying new things. Some may not go down too well, some will but I like that they are always trying to be innovative (Open Fight Night, Bound for Glory Series, Gut Check etc).

And along with the innovation there are occasional flashes of brilliance with TNA and there has been for a while. Most of the wrestling is technically excellent if a little lacking in psychology and story telling.

One Impact segment from around a month ago where Hulk Hogan was discussing with Angle, AJ Styles, Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy who the number one contender should be in a reality based context was the best segment I've seen all year. It felt fresh, more real.

The ratings are not shifting and I personally think its a shame - they deserve a little more reward their efforts to innovate.
