I really don’t understand why Escare is seen as the second coming, yes he has a bit of zip but that’s about all,Hardaker while still playing himself fit is a much better option at FB than Escare will ever be,that said I concede he has in the past come on and had an effect on the team.

Anyway to tonight..thought Gildart has his worst game in a Wigan shirt he did nothing and looks lost at the moment,I think the lads class so he will find his footing soon enough,Greenwood MOM for me hit hard and true gets better each week

Greenwood is really surprising me at the minute. I’ve always had him down as a bit of a luxury forward, a guy who can bust some holes but who lacks aggression yet he lead the way for us tonight and tried to take the battle to them.

He’s had a really good start to the year.

I never expected a win, I just wanted us to show up and perform. The effort was there, we just made too many individual errors, in defence and with the ball.

Re: Player ratings WCC : Mon Feb 18, 2019 9:20 am
Slow start again, coming out with no intensity or controlled aggression, let in two soft tries which gave the Roosters a massive platform.

Instead of ratings I'll put players into different brackets:

Happy with overall, not just the Roosters game:

Greenwood
Lockers (I fear the day he leaves)
Williams
Gildart (even though his defence wad poor last night)
Hardaker (defensively a cut above, still finding his feet in attack)
Sarginson (sorry, I don't get the hate)
Hamlin (runs hard and works hard) not sure what's his best position yet, still young and learning)

Question mark list:

Powell (tackles everything all night, was immense in the centre. Have him interchange with a livewire scooting 9 and you'll have balance) not his all-round game from 9 just isn't there.
Flower (I could be wrong, not seen any stats, but he seems to have very little go forward)
Naverrette (Was promising last season, started slow)
Marshall (I've criticised him a lot, but I was impressed with him last night, no real issues in defence and looked lively going forward)
Davies (opposite to Marshall, seems to have had a terrible start to the season)
Farrell (great engine, always like him, but his impact recent seems to be limited. Perhaps it's with playing on the right feeding off Tommy and not George?
Tommy, solid but we need more from our creative roles, worst kicking game on a 7 I think I've ever seen.
Adrian Lam: Has he improved the attack? So far no, not in the slightest. We lacked so much creativity in their 20. No clinical edge. Defence looks far worse than last season.

Gotta go:

Isa. Sorry but I just don't get it.
Clubb. Plodder of grand proportions.

Re: Player ratings WCC : Mon Feb 18, 2019 9:57 am
Hardaker is probably the most assured defensive fullback I’ve seen since Radlinski. I have absolutely no fears at all when a kick goes up or when he’s faced with a 1 on 1 etc. He is going to be a big player for us for the rest of his career.

Davies worked his socks off again and took some good carries. Took his try well.

Gildart missed 2 straight forward 1 on 1 tackles that led to tries and didn’t get into the game at all.

Marshall much like Davies. I don’t hold him accountable for their last try. A perfectly placed high kick to a winger who carries the nickname of the Giraffe! Enough said.

Williams was my stand out performer. Popped up left and right and caused them problems. Long kick was just catching practice for their wingers though.

Clubb, poor

Powell tackles well but nothing else which is standard

Flower is playing like a man who wants a GB spot. Great start to the season.

Greenwood is a super player and it was worth the admission fee just to see and hear his hit on Wharea-Hargreaves

Farrell tried hard but not comfortable on the right. Shame he’ll miss a chunk of season with his injury.

Lockers was immense. Played big minutes again and all to a very high standard.

Isa is a trier but didn’t do much
Hamlin runs strong and tackles well.
Navarette isn’t going well at all
Bullock should be a starting prop ahead of Clubb.

Wasn't the Tupou try scored over Davies? Didn't Tupou switch once Morris went off? I thought Davies was poor.
What was Flowers stats? seemed ineffective.

Re: Player ratings WCC : Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:18 am
I think last night at least showed that players like Isa and Clubb are totally ineffective at the top level. In SL for years the rules have allowed average utility players to forge a career and probably block pathways for younger players. O’Loughlin and Greenwood last night showed they have both size and skill levels to mix it with the best but our outside backs were bullied in the main. I’m really excited to watch the development of Bullock though. How many players are outside SL or who have been lost to the game who could make serious impact over time given their size?

Davies has had a very poor start to 2019.

Agree with this and I think you can add Flower & Navarette as having very little impact. I know fans like Hamlin but lets be serious, he does not have the size or ability to make much impact.
For next week I'd love to see Kibula get a run, not sure where Ben Kilner is in the pecking order but he was impressive in pre season and want to see more of him.
