In the last eleven years the Wigan academy teams have reached ten Grand Finals.

In a similar time span Wigans first team have appeared in six Grand Finals and three Challenge Cup finals.

It's a great testament to the management, scouting and coaching set up the club. One that needs to be continued if we are to maintain our dominant position.

There are still some giggles to be had over in that echo-chamber they call a forum. The injustice of last Saturday still rankles with most of them.

The Saints' fans problem is that they don't live in the same realistic world as us.

We expect to win nothing, and usually win something - which is always a nice surprise. But they expect to win everything, and usually win nothing - which is the exact opposite.

They are also immune to learning the lessons of these defeats. 'Who is the next big star (flake) we can sign who will win trophies for us?' While as Rogues points out here, it's more about instilling a winning culture from the grass-roots up, and developing players who are really committed to your cause, not who are more interested in going home as soon as they get a new gig.

“But they’re so boring them pie munchers, I wouldn’t pay to watch that tripe”

Say the fans who’s team went for a drop goal at 2-2!

Plus we gave them an object lesson in free-flowing attacking rugby without sacrificing defence on their own pitch just a few weeks ago. Seems like they all missed that game!

Oli Partington and Craig Mullen perhaps as they both played a few first games 2018.
Of those who haven't played first team Kibula, Smithies and Smith seem to be the favourites maybe. I think all three have 2019 as a last year in the U19s.

Kibula is over the age limit for the academy next season, but Smithies and Smith can still play in that age group.
Just to add to my original point, this season Wane used twenty players that have come through the Wigan academy, a fantastic testament to the work that goes on at the junior levels.
