19 for Castleford. : Fri Mar 16, 2018 12:19 pm
Wigan Warriors have today named the 19-man squad for Sunday’s game against Castleford Tigers.
Joel Tomkins and Dan Sarginson again miss out with injuries meaning that Willie Isa is likely to retain a starting place with John Bateman in the centre.

Craig Mullen and Callum Field come into the squad to replace Liam Marshall and Gabe Hamlin who were 18th and 19th men last week.

Wigan Warriors 19-Man Squad
John Bateman, Joe Burgess, Tony Clubb, Tom Davies, Morgan Escaré, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Callum Field, Oliver Gildart, Willie Isa, Tommy Leuluai, Craig Mullen, Romain Navarrete, Sean O’Loughlin, Sam Powell, Ryan Sutton, Taulima Tautai, Sam Tomkins, George Williams.

I’m starting to wonder why we brought Hamlin across? There’s no way we’d bring a player all that way to play reserve rugby.

Just 20 mins into the U19s game and Hamlin is again showing his class. He’s making ground every touch and his PTB is very fast. I wish we could see him at 1st team level.

Wasn’t he NRL reserve grade himself? Might be wrong but I thought he hadn’t seen any first team action in the NRL?

Of all the games to blood him in, away to last years run-away league leaders in front of a vicious crowd.....I don’t think Sunday is the right one.

Totally agree Matty and you’re right, not the right game for a debut. He’s not even in the 19 though and I’d expect him to be in there at least as a travelling reserve to stay in and around the 1st team environment. He’s a class above in this 19s game.

Easter Monday is ideal game for him.

Couldn’t agree more mate. It’s good that we don’t have to chuck him in due to injuries and that we can manage him properly.

We have a bit of a habit of this to be fair. Hopkins came over, never played a first team game, then went back to Leigh. Navarette also came over and didn't get many games before being sent back to Catalans (albeit he seems to be turning things round now). Maybe he hasn't been doing enough in training.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

It finished 30 all. Some really stupid penalties and offloads cost Wigan the game who were 24 - 6 up at one stage.
