2 guys in the pub slagging him off from 1st minute yesterday.

Apart from the daropped ball moment did nothing wrong, wasn't outstanding, but did ok.

Im not a Sarginon fan but I'd cut him a bit of slack for yesterday because I think he went into the game probably not 100% as I think he had a bit of a groin strain. I just don't rate him as a centre. He is obviously fit, athletic and an excellent work rate but for me hasn't got the skill set to be a good centre. A half decent squad player but for me not a regular in the starting 17.

It a all about opinions. If we all thought the same it would be pretty boring with no need for a forum such as this.

Sarge will always be the victim now especially with many Wigan fans and that is really disappointing. he has got 2/3 games under him since his return AND a long injury layoff, give the lad a bloody chance!

its no wonder all our returning players struggle when their own fans are calling them left, right and centre too. I don't recall you calling for him to be dropped in the year he won the GF alongside the rest of the squad; a season in which he was one of our most consistent players.

never star quality i totally agree, but he will do a job for us. anything claiming he is taking a spot away from someone else is deluded. Wane is picking who he feels is hit best team with what is available.

The sad thing is that Sarginson is aware some fans were far from pleased with his return as he made reference to it in his first interview back. That can’t do your confidence much good.

Give him ten games and he’ll be much improved imo.

Why is it sad? Did Sarginson think about what the fans thought when he saw the big bucks coming from Australia....I don't think so.

It’s sad that a lad that gives nothing but his best was made a scapegoat even before he’d played a minute of his second spell for us. This is a lad who in his last game for the club played a huge part in us winning a Grand Final.

I don’t think he’s perfect and I personally would rather see him as a squad player who covers the starting backline but some of the drivel I read about his ability on here is laughable frankly.

Sarginson is being asked to play in a position that is completely unnatural to him - the blame doesn't lay with him, it's our recruitment that needs to take responsibility.

Re: Hull game : Sun Feb 11, 2018 3:17 pm
I always thought Sarge performed best for us at FB, which is a shame a he is now 3rd choice there.
He'll take time to develop as a centre, as he's not had much rugby for 12 months, and before that was shunted between centre/FB.
In a winning team, he's got time to come up to speed. lets review the position in another 3 weeks to see how he is developing. Joel and Bateman are options to cover that spot, if he doesnt improve.

In fairness to the club it does seem as though the Gelling situation only really came to a head quite late in the day and there isn’t a raft of good centres knocking about.

His best position is undoubtably fullback. His energy and work rate in that position makes him a handful for any team to face. In an ideal world we’d probably shed another forward and get a good centre in but finding one is easier said then done.

The Gelling rumours started in November with the League Express saying he wanted to go, I'd hope the club were looking then.

You said give him time and he will come to (which means come good/improve I presume). My point was I don't know why you would think that given how he played for us at centre before.

We have won the first two games. Both with more skill, flair and effort shown in maybe 12 months.

Still, I can genuinely see the reasons for picking holes in specific players.......

Erm...

Yeah....

Just crack on. It’s not tedious and utterly predictable at all. No surie bob.
