I think there are other issues as well. I am prety sure he was behind the magic weeken which while many fans like it has never made a profit and sees clubs lose revenue on the fixture compared to playing it as a regular round. Not that you would as without magic there would be no need for the extra fixure but the point is, it is a costly exercise that long since lost it's publicty value outside of RL.
He's been in the job for what seems like forever anyway and dynamic organisations have CEO's that move on and let in new blood with new ideas. Wood seemed to have this as a job for life and from the outside seemed to run it like a dictator annoyiong the likes of IL in the process. Long overdue for a change.
