The first half, up there with the best we have played all season. Since Sam came back into the team our attack seems a lot more dangerous. We are extremely dangerous down the wings (will continue to be so with Charnley out/Burgess in next season), okay 2nd half I think we took the foot off the gas - Catalans away next remember!

To play like that with:

Micky Mac out
Clubb out
Bateman out
Gelling out
Crosby out
Farrell out

is very promising indeed. Special mention to Tautai, what a run!

We took our foot off the gas and looked leggy second half but that first half was excellent. We're a different side when the big games come round and hopefully we can kick on now.

By the time of the semi you'd hope we'll have Crosby, Farrell and Bateman back and Frank Paul Nuuausala on board.

What's the crack with players coming in mid season? Is there a cut-off point when they can play in the cup?

Sarg was a penalty magnet and made too many mistakes which ruined Wigans second half.

Tomkins is still special.
If you can keep him fit and build around him, it bodes well for the future.

I think I read they we're trying to get him in ahead of the cup deadline which was the 30th June IIRC.

I think he'll be fine for the semi as he's signed already although we are awaiting his visa.

Tomkins was unreal. He was worth at least 18 points in defence and attack.

That's the key. His defence yesterday was phenomenal, I'm so happy to be able to write that. He took the bombs, several cover tackles notably the one on Solomona, he even put Junior Moors on his backside one on one. Add to that his positional play, reading of the game and attacking ability we have the best player in the league again.

He's not as quick as once was but the lads twice as strong up top. His one on one defence has come on leaps and bounds and he now looks confident under the high ball.

In attack he's just superb. He'd already changed his style of play in 2013 to a point but he's clearly continued that development down under. Teams are still petrified of him and he creates space for others and because that express pace has faded a little, he's now prepared to pass it on and let somebody else take the glory.

He's going to get better and better this year. It's great to have him back.

Wouldn't just his speed just yet. He's come off the back of the biggest injury he's ever had, will take time mentally and physically reach his true speed.
