Maybe not when compared to other hookers in the NRL but in Super League he could be decent.

I wonder what the dispensation was exactly because my knowledge of the salary cap is sketchy. Aren't there only 25 players you can name as earners in your squad? The lads we then brought in were outside this. Could it be that Wigan asked for dispensation to bring them in without any payments counting on the salary cap with the intention of then leaving any room to sign a more experienced player when they became available? or would the RFL make us use any room to pay them out of our own salary cap?

One thing I do know is other clubs don't ever seem to have many issues signing players mid season and that's regardless if they're a club like Cas who you imagine run under the cap or a club like Saints/Leeds who you'd think must be up to the limit.

We'd have been better off with Godinet, who I see has found his way back to the NRL.

Good shout. It's all about timing though isn't it? (stating the obvious) the only reason we're looking at a hooker is because of Mac's injury.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know the status of Glen Butriss? I'm not sure if he's even still at the Raiders but if so, Hodgson is surely keeping him well away from the first team at the minute. Could he be an option?

I think the Raiders let him go. They've got Baptiste now as second string to Hodgson. Actually Baptiste is pretty good. Better than Buttriss ever was, anyway!

I was for the salary cap when it was introduced but zero movement over several years has diluted our ability as a game to hold on to and recruit players from NRL and RU to detriment of the game.

That's the problem with the RFL, it takes them years to realise that there could be a problem. They don't listen to the fans of the game who 90% of could highlight the problems of the sport. It takes the Sky pundits to push things and make them common knowledge. I think we can soon expect the 'stepping the ball over the dead ball line' to be a thing of the past due to the belittling of it from the pundits this season. We should stop trying to copy everything the NRL does. We need a world wide set of rules that can't be changed by any league that decides they want to alter them and stick to them. They make 2 or 3 changes per year deliberately to try and improve the game but the majority of them have taken it backwards.

Watching the Eels now. Corey Norman is some player; when Peter Sterling says a player is having a wonderful season, he knows what he's talking about. He's going to be a great buy for some lucky NRL side.
