I cant help but think that he could be our biggest problem tonight,i dont know how he referees wire games but i wish we had bentham tonight as he seems to let the game flow more

Refereeing the game very well so far, it's like old fashioned super league, played at at great pace.

Awful I thought.

Games are totally different under Silverwood to Bentham at the moment (our most recent refs) with Silverwood blowing the pea out of the whistle.

We played no differently tonight discipline wise to how we played against Saints yet we gave away probably three or four times as many pens. It was the same at Salford on Easter Monday.

The RFL need to encourage some consistency. That may mean somebody like Bentham giving more pens rather then Silverwood giving less but at least you know where you stand!

The only bad calls (from a Wigan POV) were the ball strip offences given against Bateman and then Farrell

Both looked free from any infringement and should have been wigan ball.

He's probably reffed ok tbh and I shouldn't call his performance awful.

What is awful us the inconsistency from one week to the next. The two regs that highlight that for me are Bentham and Silverwood at the moment.

It needs sorting out by the RFL.

I wasn't too impressed with him, but on balance I thought the Wolves probably probably got the bad end of the big calls. The Bateman call looked fair enough to me; the ball-carrying arm had hit the floor and the tackle was complete. The other one I don't recall, to be honest. At least it was a game where the ref wasn't centre-stage.

it's the simple lack of consistency from week to week. The fact that there's only 5 full-time refs doesn't help. Bentham had a good game the other week (notwithstanding his taking players back 12 yards to get round the o/s rules). S/wood didn't have a bad one tonight, but i'd like to see some stuff again.
They all seem to have been given carte-blanche to interpret the rule book as they see fit with no guidance at all.
I've said before, but until the coaches & chairs grow a pair & demand change, nowt will happen

He maintained the 10m and stopped any lying on: result = a fast flowing entertaining game. Its not rocket science, so why cant all referees apply the same basic rules?

Best Referee in the game, hope we get him for a lot more games this season
