Looks like Wire have gotten the Widdop signiture reportedly ahead of us, Saints, Leeds and Huddersfield.

In relation to cap planning maybe now this opens up an opportunity to spend a little more this year rather than allowing for the forecast of his wages for 2020.

It’s an interesting position we find ourselves in with a few factors such as marquee players, especially with the Bateman agreement in place that we find ourselves in.

Seems we are making an already complex process and cap system increasingly complex for ourselves in our attempts to manage it.

Spoke to someone who works with the club (so who knows if there's truth in it) but supposedly we were never really in for Widdop.

It’s a great signing for superleague and Warrington and one you can’t help but be envious of. There’s going to be some serious sides these next couple of years knocking about superleague and whilst they strengthen and we make cut backs, it’ll be tough to keep pace.

You can’t knock Ian Lenagan for how he’s run this club in his time and I hope he can continue to help us be successful over the next few years but it’s getting tougher.

I agree 100% NK. Leeds, Saints and Warrington are really looking to bring international quality players in and we continue to trust in developing players. I include Hankinson and Bullock in that category. Hardaker is a fabulous player albeit carries risk and we really do need to take note of our rivals progress and keep pace.
That said, we’re champions and therefore still the team to beat. I’m looking forward to the season and even more so, when Edwards comes in.

Watched a 20 minute interview before posted on aincient and loyal. Very good listen and answers a lot of the criticism aimed at IL on here. IL and KR speak very well on it. Worth a watch for sure.

Jackson Hastings has spoke in an article how it was the right decision remaining with Salford, repaying them for taking a punt on him after issues in the NRL. Considering he only put pen to paper for a season, I think there's still a chance he could end up at Wigan in 2020.

I can see us looking for his signature if the NRL stay clear.

Hastings only signed a 1 year deal because he wants to return to the NRL. It was a big part of why he didn’t sign for us as we wouldn’t go with a 1 year deal for him.

I’ve no doubt he will get his wish for 2020 especially with some big names retiring and also a reliance on a few rookies in 2019 in the halves.
Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

I think the Hastings' boat may have sailed, I would hope the Sammut signing is keeping the 7 jersey warm for Harry Smith.
