As in, although he has been a successful coach in the past, he did little with england and i think we should be looking for the next up and coming coach ala maguire

We need a completwlt new direction and to re-invent ourselves. Wane has been great for us but if we are to move on, we need to make a statement

I agree. Unless we get a big name like Edwards, Benett etc i would have a real look at Jason Demetriou great gronding as assistant and looks ready to have go. Problem is Broncos wants Bellamy and he could be out of a job.


Someone mentioned him yesterday and i thought they were taking the usual. But his coaching record and as an assistant is very good.

Demetriou has a very good record over here (in Australia) and is currently an assistant at the Broncos. His head coach record in the lower leagues is very good and has won many competitions in his short time as a coach. if the Broncos don’t get Bellamy they could do worse than appoint Jason. If Wigan signed him I’d be more than happy.

Even in football World Cups where the whole country cares and expects results, I don’t ever recall people heaping flak on Ray Lewington, Gary Neville, Tord Grip etc. They fly under the radar regardless of results and the head man gets the burden. I’m not even sure the position of defensive coach in Union has as much responsibility as those guys would get. Nobody scores try’s in Union anyway so it seems cushy to me (couldn’t resist).

Ultimately do I feel Wane would find the job of English defensive coach less stressful than the Wigan job? One million percent yes. He breathes Wigan and is constantly under the microscope.

I wonder if the stress of being Wigan Head Coach and the pressures it must exert have finally gotten to Wane? Let’s be honest there’s not many other high pressured demanding jobs in Super League such as Wigan. Carrying that weight of pressure and expectation around for 6yrs would take its toll on anyone. So from that angle I can understand the attraction of England RU or even Catalans where the expectation and pressure are much lower.

I don’t think it is pressure. When Wane resigned he said “regrettably” in his statement. That usually means I don’t want to leave but you’ve given me no option. Rather than pressure, I would guess he has resigned on principle. Over what we may never know.

Possibly Rads/IL getting rid of Tomkins and McIlorum?
