My thoughts exactly. If it’s true good luck to the lad, I’m a tad concerned the Eels are signing him for the wrong reasons and the pressure that comes with that “turning our season around” tag.

We must be in the market for a replacement unless SW is planning on promoting from within?

EDIT: I’d imagine Hamlin, Field and Kibula would be given their chance to impress upon the first team in Sutton’s place. It isn’t a bad shout either to be honest, all have seemingly good reviews from the reserves.

And setting him up for one hell of a fall. But that's his problem.

I don't rate Sutton much, but personally, I'd hope we'd dig our heels in on that until we've got a replacement. It's time we reminded the world that Wigan doesn't just exist for the convenience of other clubs.

I don't think we've seen the best of Sutton, not even close. What the Aussie coaches probably see is his potential playing in their systems, not Wigans. We are only going to see him playing how Wane wants him to, same as out other props, the same reasons we often bemoan their performances. Could just be down to tactics and the attitude of their current coach.

I agree with much of that but I also think Sutton needs to take on some personal responsibility for his career. The lad has been carrying puppy fat ever since he came in to the first team which held him back IMO. He’s probably at his fittest currently which at first sight, I thought was the sign that the penny was dropping but as it turns out it looks like it may have been to get in better shape for his move to Australia, which I find pretty disrespectful in itself.

Maybe that’s down to Wane and the comfy environment he’s made for our prop forwards. He talks about how tough it is to be in Wigan’s systems but I wouldn’t go along with that for our props. His on the minute rotation and shielding them from ever taking the ball from our line has bread a pretty cosy environment for the likes of Sutton and Tautai.

I rate Sutton and will be disappointed if he goes. Don’t forget he’s only 22, although he’s played 100 games he’s still young for a prop. I’d expect him to be an England regular in a few years.

Last night I was watching Canberra, and if Ageing Saints Reject Sia Soliola (seriously, a player I've always rated) can do 80 minutes or near enough in the intensity of the NRL, and perform very well too, then once again I couldn't help but think that our props are very much on Easy Street.

Personally I think he will promote from within rather than recruit another prop. Don’t forget we have Gabe Hamlin in the ranks waiting for his opportunity, then throw in Kibula/Field, the fact that there are no props available currently and that we are apparently at the cap limit; I just can’t see SW electing to sign a new prop.

It’s a shame this has only just come up, we could have signed a complete forward in Liam Watts as a replacement otherwise.

I know it counts for very little but Sutton is under contract, probably why SW hasn't made moves for Watts and Kragnicky

One guy I’d like to see step up at prop should the need arise (and even without the need for replacements) is Jack Wells. He’s currently sidelined and seems to have had some injuries at bad time these last couple of seasons but he’s a lad I rate highly. He started as a backrower but unless he’s lost some size from last year I don’t see an issue with him playing around the middle.

I’ve seen a few mentions of Hamlin and even Field and Kibula but not too much about this lad. He seems a bit of a forgotten man at the minute due to the timing of his injury.
