Controversial maybe but I wouldn’t break the bank for Lockers. I thought he looked his age in the semi and the final and as much as it would be tough to lose such a legend I don’t think we can afford to get in a bidding war for him when we know there’s a good chance he’ll miss a fair chunk of games.
I’d love to him him stay don’t get me wrong but not at any cost. If Leeds are offering silly money then walk away. It only brings forward the inevitable by a year or two at the very most and whilst we’re heading in to transition anyway it may not be the worst thing to get everything out the way in one hit.
I am a bit like yourself on this however, my worry is that due to another poor financial performance IL may take the opportunity to reduce the size of the annual wage bill and not adequately replace the best rugby player we have had for a long time.
I am just hoping that it is SOL agent talking his salary up a bit and that this can be resolved pretty quickly.
If he does sign a new contract I hope that he stops playing international football. I understand a players pride in playing for his country but SOL has done his bit and the time is surely right for him to concentrate exclusively on his club rugby and I hope that is with us.
