Lima was not "dropped" but rested by Craig Bellamy. Bellamy wanted to take a look at young prop forward Jesse Bromwich to see how he fared in the first team. With all the players that will be leaving Melbourne over the next few months, it makes sense for them to look at their younger players and plan for next season.

Find it interesting that Greg Eastwood who is unsettled in the UK has asked for a release but Leeds have decided to simply put him on the transfer list at a price of £100k.
I sort of admire them for that stance, overseas players need to realise that when they sign a contract they are making a commitment - one that shouldn't be broken unless in exceptional circumstances.

I can understand why Leeds have done it but I don't think they'll get £100k for him, and I think he'll be leaving at the end of the season regardless.
I saw on SSN that he has only played 12 games this year, so many clubs will be put off by that I'd imagine.
They might get some money for him, but I doubt many NRL clubs will be willing to part with circa AU$175000 for him and it seems pointless for Leeds to keep hold of him and continue to pay him (what I'd imagine is) such a large salary if he doesn't want to be there.
I would imagine Leeds have incurred quite a lot of relocation costs etc.. not forgetting he was trying to come here the previous year but got refussed a Visa and Leeds stuck by him while trying to get this and for him after 6 months to turn round and want to go home is a Poor show by Greg IMO... Leeds IMO are right to demand a fee even if they end up getting well below the 100k they want.

I agree, they will not get £100,000 for him, it's one of them things that can happen with overseas players, if they can't settle they ain't worth having.
Maybe they will do swap deal with another NRL team.

The point is they're demanding some sort of compensation so to speak to offset the significant blow of one of their key overseas signings leaving - something that Wigan haven't done in recent years. In exceptional cases like Riddell (his mother being seriously ill) fair enough but I find it very irritating when overseas players are so easily able to break a commitment they have made to the club. (Barrett, Tronc etc)

I fully agree and think Leeds have every right to a transfer fee, I just don't think they will get it.
St Pete's suggestion of a swap deal would seem more likely to me, although that doesn't help Leeds as much as £100k in the bank would do.

Very difficult to define what an 'exceptional case' is though. Eastwood probably feels like he has as much of a case as anyone.
But you are right in that it does seem to be coming the norm - and is rumoured to be happening to us again with Roberts.
IL signed Hoffman on a one-year deal, explicitly stating that this was to potentially avoid him leaving early if he is unable to settle.

I thought thats why hoffman on a 1yr deal with a option of two, hoffman is prob unsure on how he will settle in england which is fair enough if the club is happy.
I thought eastwood would be the sort to settle pretty easy but if he can't settle then no point keeping him.

You would presume so but that's not going to happen overnight. If he helps bring back some trophies to Wigan over one or two seasons and then buggers off back to the Storm then that's fine by me

He had two years left on his deal at the Storm and could have chose to stay, but decided the challenge of going overseas to another club in another comp was to much to turn down.
Good interview with him on the Wigan site in the latest podcast.

Ennis to replace Piggy for 2011.

Prediction: Wire to beat Saints in the final game ever at KR.
