The town did fine without a premier league football club for years. The town will not notice the difference.

Got to laugh at latics. I really hope they go down and the dominance of rugby in the town can become even more noticeable.

They belong in league 1/2.

Have you got any figures to back that statement up ?
ie how did the towns economy compare before Latics got into the Premier League ?

£20m was the figure I recall that was in the local rag a few years ago.

Do you think that is a reasonable figure? I'm not disputing it or being anti Latics, I just can't see there being a lot of difference between Latics being in the prem or championship. How would the 20 mill be broken down?
I don't follow football at all,but i can't see our town benifiting to the tune of one million pounds per game

No 'figures' but it was mentioned in the press that its worth big bucks to the town. An average of 4000 ppl turning up each week with some staying over, plenty eating and drinking can only be a good thing. Not to mention the odd foreigner we get coming over to see players. A group of Columbians visit quite regular as did a family of Ecuadorians when Valencia was here.

Plus the fact that Wigan as a town is getting mentioned in some respect on a national level on a regular basis.

Also, hasn't Lenegan hinted in the past that it would actually have a knock on effect in how much we have to pay to use the stadium? Sure he said it was financially beneficial for us to have Latics in the prem.
