Club article the other day said the community team is involved in 23 schools in Ealing. No idea to what extent, but some more than others obviously.
Schools work really depends on the aim. If it's to get kids playing RL then you can do it anywhere in London, if there's a club nearby for them to join. If it's with the aim of getting them to attend games then there's really no point going into schools in Deptford or wherever - you need to keep it local.
The schools they are going into in Ealing is community work, certainly not playing RL. Or if they are those schools are not on the RFL national schools radar. There are no community teams anywhere near either for the stepping stone. Broncos setting up an u13 u15 team to compete in ljl would pay off but it needs the will, and don’t think it’s there at the moment.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
Local schools playing rugby league! Name em! There are no local schools in Ealing playing rugby league. Closest one is Uxbridge, and they don’t have a local junior club to play at.
And? Community work is the key. We don't care if the local schools play RL (yet), but what we do need is more locals attending games....getting kids playing the sport isn't our remit, running a self sustainable top flight professional outfit is!
As with Banks since time began, offer a student a freebie when they open an account with you and chances are they'll stick with you for life.....My sister in her 60's living in the South of France still has her Bank account in Hitchin, where she opened it in the 70's.......I still bank in the UK with Santander, because they bought Abbey who in turn bought N&P where my first ever bank account was opened for me on my christening day....get 'em young and get 'em for life.
I repeat (and there are those closer to the club that will back me up), the RL community in both schools and clubs in the region have little interest in the Broncos. We need to concentrate on the 350,000 people living in Ealing.....and IMH Professional opinion, getting local schools, scout groups, guides etc to sell out tickets for a commission is far more important to the club as a professional entity than asking kids from across London to play a game at Trailfinders and then be dragged home by their bored parents before the SL game starts......no revenue, no interest, no point!
To start with I'd be running a LOCAL inter school competition to design a new banner for the club to mark our return to SL. First prize a VIP experience for a match day with food and merchandise thrown in. If successful, then maybe another competition to design a shirt for Magic Weekend......this is community marketing, not busing kids in from essex who'll never come back

Following on from the Cowgirls thread, why not get this institute to "represent" on match day? http://www.ealingstreetdance.com/ They can't be any worse than some of the cheerleaders at heartland clubs....
There's no such thing as a new idea in marketing......it works for puzzled locals in Toronto then why not try it out o the hipsters of Ealing? Beer Festival at at least 3 home games in the summer......
Get a resident Band to play for 2 Hours after the game and open it up to everyone. Gold Memberships etc are worth a pittance to the club in real terms, but we need to give people a reason to stay and enjoy themselves.....the atmosphere at the Stoop in the long bar room was always pretty good.
Half time activity.......employ a charismatic announcer and run the old 6 of the best thing that we did at Griffin Park.....
...all this stuff costs little if anything, but if we go down the route of announcing KO times and expecting the fans to flock to the games........well, we know how that pans out!

I'm pleased your pleased, but slightly worried that you deliberately missed the point because it doesn't sit right with your opinion. Still, at least you can tell us all how infallible the refs are whilst the kids from Essex all get dragged off home straight after their game never to be seen at Trailfinders again or at least until next season when it happens again with no tangible business gain
It’s an opinion! What’s the clubs aim? Bums on seats watching the game expanding the sport, ie get more people playing? Yep it’s my view, but the more people involved in playing the game does a few things, it raises the profile of the game in the region, if the aim is just to get people through the turnstiles then fine go to the local schools. Get more kids playing in schools in local clubs get more folk involved in RL you will get more watching! It’s also where the players of the future come from. So engage with the clubs! Engage with the schools especially those that play. You wanting to turn it into a Refs thread
