Total RL are reporting that the Championship Clubs lead by Sheffields Chris Noble, have put pressure on the RFL who have granted an EGM.
On the Agenda is Leighs parachute payment, Toulouse exemption from the Challenge Cup and the Toronto/Toulouse game at the Magic Weekend.
It will be interesting to see where all this leads.

Are they really the priority points? What about more funding for teams generally.
Mac out!

WQ reading the report, that’s exactly what it points to, it mentions the parachute payment and central funding agreement.
It’s good to see the lower league clubs standing up and wanting their voice heard. SL is not the be all and end all of the sport, without the lower leagues and the amateur game, and even down to schools the game cannot survive.

...and without SKY TV then the game will simply drift into amateur obscurity.
I am all for the Chairmen of the 2nd and 3rd Tiers getting a hearing, but to re-qualify, the game as a whole gets £182,200,000 over 5 years for all its Television contracts and SL gets £146,760,000...the Championship gets 8% and C1 gets a whopping 1%........like it or not (and I don't) the SL clubs control pretty much the survival of the game as a pro entity in the UK..........

£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Wakefield is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

SL clubs don't get 80%, Championships 8% and C1 clubs 1%........OK.....what's the split then?

My maths are awful so apologies if this works out the same as what you have said but the money is split into 1/14s. Each SL club gets one, the RFL get one and the Champ/League 1 is given one
