£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

And what is it you think THE CLUB would do with it that it already isn't doing now with him overseeing things?

A thriving Academy and Scholarship set up. The most engaging community programme for years, perhaps ever. Improved back office and structure with competent staff who can do their jobs as proven with the sponsorship brought in recently which I believe to be the highest income from sponsorship in many years. A permanent home for players of all levels to train together and fans to enjoy stability. A sensible and affordable playing roster that suits the position the club is in both league wise and supporter wise currently.

The sponsorship is worth little more than bartercard dollars that will help DH off-set some of his contributions...the other sponsors are contra-deals...as for suiting the position of the club in terms of league status and number of supporters, you seem happy to sweep 10 years of gross mismanagement under the carpet....I am not!

I'm a Hull City Football fan and do you know what, the Premier League was alright but having players earning hundreds of thousands of pounds a year and going up and down like a yo yo with a crazy owner has taught me one thing, I would rather support a club that plays to it's level both on and off the field and grows slowly and without the need for crazy inputs of finance to live a dream. I do not see fans of Brighton or Bournemouth complaining that it took them an age to grow to where they are now.

So, you use soccer to justify the travesty that is the utter destruction of op tier RL in the Capital?

MonkeyLover wrote:
You have a personal issue with DH and that is fine, you are entitled to an opinion, but you're also letting it cloud your judgement. Having dealt with the club for 3 years now the difference in professionalism is clear to see.

I have no personal issue with him at all......I just think he's a monomaniacal idiot who has been happy flushing TWENTY MILLION down the drain rather than accept he was wrong......

MonkeyLover wrote:
The man is simply fed up of losing £2,000,000 a year and is trying to regulate the flow of cash out of the club to a more sensible and manageable level. I would say that is pretty important. You seem intent on finding someone else to throw away money down the drain just to live a dream. It is the sporting equivalent of having a gorgeous blonde on your arm who needs thousands spending on her yet ultimately she will be banging you're best mate the minute your back is turned. He was just pi$$ing money down the drain on staff and players that were having a ride. You deserve better as fans and he certainly doesn't deserve that.

Why was his pi$$ing it away? The RFL told him he was wrong, Lenegan told him, I told him the frigging pope would have if he's been asked but no, he continued doing it his way with unproven administrators and unproven coaches all whilst pi$$ing off the landlords....we all deserved better but he didn't deliver.

MonkeyLover wrote:
And finally you mention Skolars. Have you any idea how much they lose a year even with the smallest playing budget in the league? They are just a smaller version of the Broncos who are themselves just a smaller version of Salford. Only a handful of clubs will ever be profitable money making machines such as Leeds, Hull FC and Wigan which as you are fully aware is down to location and fan base.

I never said Skolars were profitable....but they Microsoft in terms of management compared to our abacus.

MonkeyLover wrote:
I fully accept that London as a City is huge and back in the day 4000 was an achievable crowd but the only reason those people came was to see mercenary players struggle in the top flight. Surely it is better to build a fan base watching players who are paid a sensible wage for the level of football they can compete at with an Academy bringing through home grown talent and a community programme adding bums on seats year on year as people start to embrace the club.

I never went to watch London to witness mercenary players struggle.......I went to St Helens in the Play-offs...then Bradford and we mixed freely with the players afterwards and when you start at base camp of 600 is hard not to add fans!.......200 in 3 years is nowt to crow about. We added 1,000 at Brentford....

MonkeyLover wrote:
London Broncos can grow, and I believe will grow, into a very strong Championship club with a couple of thousand fans and potential (RFL permitting) to join the top flight one day without the need for a David Hughes or Derek Beaumont. It is not going to happen overnight though.

I'll be long in the ground before the club average 1,500 let alone 2k.......

It's wonderful that you think the club is heading in the right direction and I applaud the hard work done to date at the wedding venue, but the reality is that Hughes has brought us down to this level and is now purely propping us up because he feels guilt at what happened at the end of 13, start of 14......I'd wager a fair few bartercard dollars on it!

It's an open secret in tier 3 that Skolars haven't had the smallest wage bill for years. They aren't particularly high payers but in recent season the likes of Oxford, Hemel and South Wales have typically been paying less. With two of the southern teams gone and Hemel effectively based up north Skolars have a chance to drop their wages this season - no real competition for players - so that may now change.

Hopefully the Skolars will hoover up the best Champ 1 players in the South and push on.

So an untried coach(a coaching staff 33% less than last year), reduced playing roster, a back field to play on.........

Let's look forward

I am not living in the past, but simply pointing out that whilst we've moved from the Stoop to the Hive to the Trailfinders, had McDermott, Powell, Rea, Grima, Henderson and now ward as coaches, we've finished as the 11th, 12th, 13th 13th 13th, 16th, 15th and 15th placed sides in the country and have accepted a widely accepted figure of 2,000,000 per year as well as central funding with little to show for it, we have not made any progress in any shape or form.....the Kids getting a couple of results is great, but not 2 million a year great.....and certainly not 16 million over 8 seasons great either!

Looking ahead.......just for you LU2, I suspect that we will miss out on the Qualifiers in 2018 as we have a weaker squad than 2017 and a coach who's in his infancy in terms of coaching abilities. We will be up against Toronto and Leigh who are both far stronger than us and will as usual be the "target" for the part time sides to beat. Fev and Fax as well as the French look stronger and I suspect that if we have another mediocre season then Hughes will probably see us go part time and that will be it for the club as a viable SL entity.

To ignore the mistakes of the past and even in some instances repeat them is stupid and if they keep making the same errors, then I am afraid that the past will always be brought up.......But.....CURRENTLY, Our CEO was an accountant by trade and not a sports administrator with any experience of managing a company and our General Manager is freelance presenter by trade.....that's it for full time named back office staff.....our Coach was Coach of the U19's who lost 12 from 12 in 2015....and we have form in promoting youth coaches to the top job. Our current sponsors are suppliers and start ups delivering little if any tangible income and we play out of a ground that can only be described as quaint....and we have the same guy paying the same bills every year......he is the one constant at the club over the last decade and at some stage he has to see that he is the problem.

I have no doubt I'll trundle along to a game when I am next in the area and probably buy another replica shirt to go with the ever increasing (in number and sizing) collection, but it really is depressing to think how badly we have been run and how different is SHOULD have been! :DEPRESSED:

Why?
Are you saying that you can only make informed comments about the club if you have got a certain amount of time watching the club?

I'm sorry. I assumed English was your mother tongue......reminiscing is not living in the past

Living in the past would be me posting a 25 point marketing strategy designed to make the club sustainable in the top tier....not pointing out that we are pretty much buggered because of the insane decisions of the owner...that is Lamenting what has happened.

Answer me this.
In 2012 Hughes invested 2 million in the club and we had a 3k average delivering 39,000 fans and about 600k in income over 11 games. Then.........we reverted to our old name, then moved, then moved again and have been relegated....yet in 2016 when we averaged 634 and and took about 190,000 at the gate in 15 games, Hughes invested the same amount.....2 million.......so tell me.....at which stage do you think his master plan for London Broncos will start to bear fruit?
