Having just watched the game honest view despite the win we were poor. A couple of good displays dragon, magrin, ayers leatherbarrow solid, api I think was pretty poor. Set finish was shocking at times. Positives, our tackle technique much better. We are gonna have to improve if we are going to compete against Leeds in middle 8s
Quite agree. We were not great. However more important the two points are in the bag. Neither team looked settled and the delay for both was I think disrupting. We need to improve significantly. Defensively looked quite settled. On driving forward looked solid if unspectacular. More individual in final delivery, and quite frankly lost composure or panicked. However you want to describe it we tried to force the impossible. But on occasions the pass to the grass behind the man was unbelievably poor. Number of good performances as described and we were quite quick around the ruck. More composure required.
If we played like we did at home against Bradford against say Leeds at this point in time we'd be there. If it was on today's basis it'd be a hiding.
Agree with all the comments above, also thought Foster was very impressive. Would like to see him back in the 2nd row though with Wes at centre and Walker returning at Full Back. Pretty harsh leaving him out today imo.
Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently. Rosa Luxemburg, 'Die russiche Revolution'.
The delay probably didn't help either side, but, hey, it's a win by a comfortable margin which'll do for me. Apropos the delay, someone on A.N.Other forum's posted a picture of the vehicle fire that caused it - looked very nasty, just hope the driver was OK.
Whilst I agree it wasn't a perfect performance and our new guy had a nightmare we need a bit of perspective here. We won comfortably, beating a side at the start of the season where one of our major rivals and scored some great tries? Wes on the wing was marginally odd but it worked. Cannot agree about foster, he has to stay centre he is playing exceptionally well and is so solid in defence. Ditto about Kear, he is so solid at full back, safe under high ball and comes into the line well.
At any time in the last 5 years would we have criticised this , or any win, by 32-14? No. Shows how far we have come as a team and fans that we are not satisfied!

B
Wes / Fos combination to counteract the power of Yere ?
We just werent ruthless or composed enough. Too many unforced errors. The team will know this though and hopefully put it right starting next week.
Brian, I don't think it's about not being satisfied, it's about commenting on the performance compared to what we have seen already this season. I would suggest we are all happy with a win and the two points. However the reality is Sheffield were poor and we should have put 50 plus against em yesterday, as was suggested by the commentary team for some reason yesterday we could not close the game out and near the line forced plays. I think if we sat back and said yep a win that was brilliant then when we hit the middle 8s we are in for a shock. Next few games, we have to learn to finish the sets properly hear the line and that does not mean re starting with a scrum

Agree, we panicked and rushed, a bit like start of season - but still scored some great tries - Garside, foster, Offerndal, Battye all excellent!
Bradford v Leigh good game and in the end a good result, I think, for us. Now 6 points clear of Bradford, though they have game in hand - but keeps us firmly in 2nd

Worky, Eagles, Oldham at home and Swinton away all winnable
Fax, Dewsbury and Batley away very tricky.
Leigh at home mouthwatering
Bradford have Batley, Halifax, Fev, Leigh .... tough also
The thing with Workington everything good comes through Jarrod Sammut. Stop Sammut. Stop Workington. He does try too hard on occasions. There does not seem to be a plan B with him. At home Workington is a very winable game.
