Did I read somewhere this week that we had let a player go to one of our competitors? Apparently there was interest from SL clubs

Yes. Riley has signed for Haven. Workington were chasing him and I believe Huddersfield showed some interest. How real it actually was is another matter. He's signed for his home team.

No apparently we've adopted the more traditional approach of releasing players at the end of the season, when either they or us don't want each other, and then finding them playing against us. The results are often similar, though he bitterness on Internet forum varies.

He was injured until around mid season. Did feature as a regular in the second half of the season. A loss yes and was showing some good signs, though whether enough to justify retaining is another matter. Ran hard but was perhaps not as noticeable as some others. Is replaceable, and arguably has been, with an equivalent or better player.
