I have been as big a critic as anyone on how the giants are run, and i still think it is Micky mouse , But that said and the horrendous time we have had with injuries the last 2/3 seasons , all told to be in eighth place is not as disastrous as it might have been, Granted the season is not over yet but still some things about the side are surely there to build on.

We have very obvious deficiencies in the pack but it's early days yet to see what Woolford can do with some of them, If the rumours of the new half are true he would seem to be not happy with things there, I don't see Turner as the answer I would rather see him at LF. He like Rankin and one or two more is steady rather than poor and we have plenty in the pack who fit that bill.

We have had some games that have been so bad they are not worth talking about, but shows like last night are very noteworthy because although we were getting beaten up in the forwards, we still found a way to cling on.

So is the basics of a good side there to be added too, and can we become a competitive side, last night seems to prove that half the battle is about attitude as plenty on here have said often enough.

I have to agree. Youve seen my post on the recruitment thread. Rankin, Bruno, Clough, Murphy, Gaskell can all fall into that category and we do need to improve on them to move forward. All of them are great squad utility players though and are good to have in the squad.

I too would like to see Turner at Loose as I think it will be Hinchys last year.

We need another big prop who can make metres and I think we need another decent 2nd rower too.

If we sign Hastings, Uate as well as a quality 2nd row and a quality prop, I think he could easily be a top 4 side next season.

Is it Ukumas contract up this year?

rankin has been very inconsistent recently sometimes good the next bad

turner might be going back to centre if hes not staying at half back but could do a job at loose too

still no solution to the centre inside uate

or some big forwards!

Wardle and Uate could be a great pairing .

yes we keep going on about wardle but how can we say that after 1 super league game?

he cant displace gaskell right now for that centre spot

If he has indeed damaged that same knee then I wonder whether we will see him again. Two years it took last time. If he can’t get on the field in the next few weeks then he might not ever.

Jake's fine, he played for the Academy on Friday.

yep played friday for academy so makes you wonder why he cant get back in the team... still behind gaskell , mamo and turner for that centre spot it seems so cant say he will be the number 1 for next season can we

I have also been confused regarding Jake Wardle not getting another crack yet but from what I hear the club see next year as his break out year.

Although hes has been full time for 2/3 years, this was his first full pre season and even then injured his foot in the trial game. The club don't want to rush him fitness wise this season and him get injured again with the difference in physicality of SL compared to Academy level. In other words they want to get him playing regularly in the academy, get another pre season behind him and he could well be our starting left centre.

Once he has got another full pre season behind him i'm led to believe he will be given more of a chance in the team.
