Band of 59 : Sat Apr 21, 2018 7:52 am
Apparent only 59 Giants tickets sold for last night. We were 3 - well, only 2 as daughter didn’t turn up. Told only 11 on supporters club coach, but 2 didn’t turn up. When junior and I went into ground at 720pm there were 2 other giants fans there. That said....
.....The band of 58 were loud , supportive and did plenty of singing. The band of 58 were committed.
And some our players were committed (yes - despite the score line!). Ukuma, Hinchcliffe and Murphy never stopped running and never took a step back.
The youngsters were a mixture of good , inconsistent and well just young and learning their trade at the top level. The future will judge them - not last night, nor next week.
Some other older players are just not super League level.
But what annoyed me was some senior pros who just couldn’t be bothered. Slow to run back, lazy poor tackling, avoiding contactt and offloading rather than taking the tackle.
I rarely criticise individual players as they put thei bodies on the line for us. But last night Adam Walne ( who I had high hopes for) was an embarrassment.
The band of 58 are proud of the claret and gold shirt. Some Players should learn that from them.
And for what it’s worth,I like Thorman and his honesty is refreshing, but feel we need an experienced coach as we are looking for a culture change here for the next few years, and not a quick fix.
Been to every game this year so far - home and away - and last night the band of 58 was fab.The fans are committed. I ask the players who read these posts to please match our commitment.
