Its really impressed me how well our academy is doing now and provides for interesting times over the next 2 years with who maybe promoted to the first team.

What are everyone's views on our academy youngsters?

Although already in the first team, Jake Wardle scored a hat trick yesterday and looks like he will get his long awaited SL chance very soon. He is in his last year of his full time contract so hopefully we manage to secure him long term. Had a horrible time with injuries but many at the club say he is by far the best academy prospect we have had on our books so far.

Senior twins still have 2 years left in the academy but I suspect they will both me promoted at the end of this season, if not before now Tom Symonds has left.

The interesting one will be Jon Luke Kirby as he is in his last year of the academy and a great prospect at prop but in a position we seem to players in abundance.

Tylar Mellor also a good propspect and in the last year on the academy.

Also heard great stuff about young hooker Jack Flynn who is out injured I believe at the moment.

Regarding our youngsters out on loan:

Mikey Wood & Liam Johnson are on loan at Bradford Bulls and cant see either of them returning to us as both their contracts are up this season.

Nathan Mason is at Leigh but again cant see him returning to us, his contract is up at the end of the season.

Izaac Farrell on loan at Batley and is OOC at the end of this season, cant see him getting a new deal.

note of caution here...

Should we go down the best ones will be poached by the Superleague clubs.

Last time we got relegated we lost Gleeson value at the time at least £150,000 and Chris Bridge who was the star academy player and would have brought a big fee in his prime, Thorman to London although loaned back for a season and Costin to Bradford.

No fees for any of them plus others hence why we need to get the players out fit before we even consider playing them so if we do hit the middle 8’s we will be at full strength....

English bust the line every drive and tackled everything. Outstanding effort, he has to keep his place!

Second half especially the effort was there, Thorman probably got the hair dryer out again at half time. Much more positive

One of the most professionally run and administered Academies in the game. From scouting through Tto 1st team debutants the whole Academy has been improved immensely over the last 5 years.

Andy Kelly and Steve Hardisty should rightfully be recognised for their long hours, dedication and genuine heartfelt desire to see every player get the best out of their time in the Giants youth system.

I’m not forgetting the great contribution made by the Scholarship and Academy coaches most of whom are volunteers and give up hours and hours of their time every week.

People don't genuinely think that Brearley, including myself. Ive said that out of frustration on a couple of occasions. Id just like us to get rid of the poor players like Rankin and Gaskell.

I would rather see us play our youngsters now and develop them than sign Aussies like Symonds etc.

Recruitment has to be right from now on for me this year as its been dreadful for a long time.

We should have a decent amount of cap space available at the end of this season. Ferguson, Hinchliffe, Murphy and Mamo all OOC + Symonds wage available. I hope we will lose 2 of Ferguson, Hinchliffe, Murphy and Mamo.
