Not necessarily, still all in the balance, Leythers have to go to HKR next weekend. Then throw in the possibility of shock result from one of the other championship teams

FWIW HKR commentators last night were predicting a Leyth vs Salford MPG.

Had a feeling Featherstone would run Leythers close due to their championship rivalry. For our sakes hoping they would get the win.

Been a challenge trying to work out all the possible permutations, but couldn't fathom how it got stated (not by any of our fans) that just because we lost at Salford we were somehow guaranteed MPG  Most important aspect of course was that our own form had to improve first.

Re: Welcome to the Middle 8's : Sun Aug 21, 2016 9:40 pm
What I'm still at a loss about is our defence. For the last few years our defence has been some of the best in the league. This year it's been shocking- but if you look at who's come in, Rapira, hinchy, Roberts, Mason JJ as the main ones, ikahihifo and symonds too then they are all pretty solid defensively. In fact hinchy puts a real shift in defence- probably more than we would get from robbo.
when I suggested it was we were missing organising from our FB that was pooh-poohed, when I suggested our new conditioners weren't up to scratch very early on in the season that was also pooh-poohed.
So what is it then!!!!

All of the above is the likely answer Jools
Losing Robbo midfield hit our attack and defence
Missing Grix - for all his faults, hit our defensive line

We WERE well out of condition at the start of the season

Using Wardle as a back row (never the best defender) stung our attack and defence again

I still think our issue is and always has been attitude. Too many average players thinking too much of themselves. Its the same reason we cant put teams to the sword and why we always lose tight games.

It's about time that we got positive to me.

Despite the Salford game this is now in our own hands.

Not to say we will take it but win our next three and we are pretty much safe.

Our problem at Salford and yesterday is the right hand side without Gerry. Ormsby is slow, Ellis is like a snail and they attacked that side particulary Ellis and Ormsby and it worked.

We once again put our cue on the rack and Child didn't help with a cock eyed view of offside but in a way it was a good reminder of what needs fixing.

But that said its in our hands next up beat London then we need the big game at Leigh. You can only ask to be in control of your own destiny but a positive mindset is a must.

If its true that Wardle will be going early and Connor still going to Hull as well as Grix leaving I think next year we need a Full back, Winger and a Centre.

Gene Ormsby and Jamie Ellis I agree are way too slow and did not look any better than the Batley players.

THE BIRTHPLACE OF RUGBY LEAGUE

Re: Welcome to the Middle 8's : Mon Aug 22, 2016 1:02 pm
at this point in time i think it will be salford in the mpg with either giants/hull kr.

but we are building some confidence slowly, the defence def needs work still, mcgillvary coming in for ormsby may help, i think ellis is poor in defence one on one.

our fitness levels are no where like previous season and its been well flagged up on here about brown leaving for salford being an issue, hope it gets rectified by stone for next year.

they do need to work hard for each other, we kept batley to 2 points for a good while, the game was won so the mind set changed and we leaked a few tries , still no excuse though really but it happens, not just to us
