The Scott Grix match defining moment !! : Thu Jun 23, 2016 10:42 pm
Bad as we had played, frustrated as we all were at 8-14 we were one score behind and on our first big attack of the second half.

Up steps Scott Grix and throws a schoolboy like pass straight to the fastest man on the field GAME OVER.

I have no qualms wth his inability to tackle David Fafita near the line a lot of players will struggle to tackle him, but bloody hell he was lucky to have his try stand as he should have slid over to avoid any tackle from behind but he almost stopped and got caught.

I thought Connor was unlucky to have his ruled out right on half time so I guess it balanced out.

Yes there were lots of other poor performances, mistakes etc but as bloomers go this was a self inflicted doozie and his later pass to Mike Lawrence was a hospital pass of some distinction no wonder he couldn't hold it.

There's a lot more problems than Scott Grix I know but that pass was outstandingly shocking and given its timing in the game and the outcome couldn't have been any worse.

His try was fine and so was Connors on half time. He gave the intercept try but other than that I thought he was ok. You mention his pass to Lawrence. This was a perfectly good pass IMO which Lawrence dropped.
If you want mistakes how about Lawrence pass to his wing, Brough's sin bin, Taai dropping on first tackle of match, Brough dropping on his own line, Crabtrees attempt to tackle Faafita. However it is still easier to make one scapegoat.

Not one scapegoat there were probably 12/17 but my post says match defining moment which that intercepted pass certainly was.

If you watch the Lawrence pass again Grix over delayed it and it hit Lawrence high at the same time as two defenders as I said earlier in the week in another thread Brett Hodgson he ain't.

Totally agree with what you have said, this was the game over defining moment when Grix threw that ball to their winger. He did exactly the same in the first half but fortunately the ball slipped through the Wakey players hands or he would have been away too. Grim has got a great ability to back up and be in the right place at the right time, but as soon as he gets hold of the ball he can either drop it or do something stupid with it and this happens every single game.

Having seen Grix and Brough play many times at Wakey i have the opinion that Brough is absolute class one of the best players in the league Grix on the other hand is a shocker an absolute shocker, i am amazed that he gets a game anywhere...The worst rumour i have heard recently is that he is going to come back to Wakey.....my god i hope not. They say he has "utility" value in that he can play in many positions....what i have witnessed is that he can play absolutely garbage in several positions. One of the worst players i have seen wear a Wakey shirt and there have been many to choose from.

Strange Fartown 1961 and others failed mention the two try saving tackles made by Grix when others in front of him had failed miserably!

Or the fact that three successive coaches have picked him above the alternatives

They were all failures last night, including Brough having his worst game for a long time, Quite apart from any other player, Grix is not the quality we require and he is not the only one. comparing him to the failures of other players doesn't make him any better, Things are what they are. If you are going to compare him to anyone , then compare him to Shaull, Hanbury etc .

He does get a lot of criticism, Probably because any mistakes he makes show up glaringly due to his position, which is unfortunate but he does make some bad ones, He doesn't lack effort , he lacks the quality for S league. I pray the new coach can recognize the difference between potential and mediocrity , any more nonsense of the PA variety and we will be stuffed. Thank God A Kelly isn't going to be our new man.
