Not kicking the penalties : Fri Apr 29, 2016 8:53 pm
Was the right decision at the time. the problem was the execution of the sets afterwards and our inability to score.

Just thought I would mention that before everyone uses hindsight and says it was a mistake.

It wasn't a mistake, it showed Leeds that we were confident enough to run the ball unlike themselves who chose to kick the penalty from our 20.
There's nowt wrong with psychological warfare.

if the world was painted in only 2 colours then it would have to be claret and gold

Forget hindsight DG

Close fought to and fro game? Points valuable but hard to come by and our league position?

I'll take the two before none and get possession back! No glory in "it could have worked...."
But if youre happy with it and then opponents nick the game next time in similar circumstances.. :SHOOT:

(By the way Jools- in hindsight - yeah its a moan! :

But the lads DID play the 80mins and that is important! Well done!

Nope crackers- I'm with you- take easy points on offer and get the ball back to go again and make the opposition have to defend. Instead of gaining two we gave away 6 and although it didn't cost us this time it already has this season.

Ye but to be honest we usually would have taken the 2 , and they could have taken a short kick off and scored from that , (could) .it's just they way it went on night ,but I think its the winning mentality that was important and it came through for us in the end.

It did look like the wrong decision, but the lads dug in for the full 80. Let's hope we improve defensively next week as it will be a stronger Leeds we face. Some great performances last night but must give a special mention to Bruno in attack who was a massive handful for them all night, normally only his defence that's noticed but he ran some fantastic angles in the middle of the park, getting us on the front foot when needed.

Bruno is this seasons big success story for me.

Next Friday every two points will be vital and the decision not to kick was an 8 point turnaround from a potential four point lead to a four point deficit. It was also too far from the end of the game for Leeds to short kick in my opinion too.

I'd settle for a 1pt win next week !!

I would take the points every time against a team when the result is likely to be in doubt, If they go for a short kick off then you make sure you get the ball ( which we rarely do ) If they kick long ( almost certain ) Work the ball back up field and Brough kicks you into their red zone, you are where you want to be and two points to the good.

Could have been so many more points last night but some credit has to go to Leeds defence, they stood some pressure. Great improvement from us though and keeping it going for the 80 was massive.

I did fancy our chances last night, I expect they will have some men back for next week so we will have to step it up even more to get that one, but I see no reason why we can't take it.
