he was poor for both sides today was Child ( no S!) he is just a terrible referee, he lost control early on and it went from bad to worse.
anyway we didn't help ourselves did we? as Brearley says,we had enough chances to have been out of sight by half time, saints offered nothing ( apart from headhunting) until we started gifting them possesion, which they took gladly.
the 2nd half was a war of attrition really and we never looked up for it, despite them giving us plenty of chances late on, we never looked like breaking them, good defence or poor attack? i would say the latter.. when we had them under pressure on their own line we looked clueless to be honest, how many times did we try sliding a kick through for Murphy? how many times did we give a rampaging forward a drop off pass to charge onto? you'd think that Paul Anderson, of all people would be championing that tactic.... we just lacked any kind of composure and were literally just throwing or kicking the ball around willy-nilly.
other than that, we played fairly well in defence, line speed was better, we got some good forward at times but our lack of composure near their line ultimately cost us.
