I wouldn't call it a shocking dropped ball considering the wind, the rain and the height of the kick but it certainly didn't look good. I said straight away that when even Smurph is dropping the ball we should be worried.
I was more concerned why on earth we were giving Ta'ai the ball to run out from just in front of our posts. I called the dropped ball as soon as the pass went to him! I really enjoy him as a player but I really wish he could keep hold of the ball more often!
It wasnt a shocking dropped ball. It was a difficult kick in normal conditions. In those conditions it was even harder. Why was his position poor?. Saints did not make one clean break all game. If you are referring to Roby's 40/20 it is nearly impossible to get back in line if the player jumps out from dummy half and kicks straight away when the opposition are expecting it to be moved to the halves. I put that down as brilliant rugby from Roby.
He had all the time in the world to take that ball. I could see from his stance it wasn't right- said straight away to my other half. The 40/20 was one such time yes-He should have been in a dropped back position before the ball was played, he usually would be. There were other times where he wasn't where he should be- perhaps he didn't have trust in connor. I just think he wasn't his usual dependable self. If grix had made those errors Stella and others would be blasting him......
maybe its me but all possession we had be interesting but would say more than 50% in both halves we should have won why didn't brough take the two points that were on offer on two occasions in the first half take all points against sides like that could have been a game changer as there score came soon after
No way you can have a go at Murphy for dropping that bomb in that weather. His stance wasn't wrong at all - it was just a very good spiral bomb that did him.
There wasn't too much wrong with his positurning either
i agree about Murphy dropping that bomb, it was a horrible one to take, high, swirling and all over the place with the wind, i can forgive him for that as most players would have struggle to take that.
Murphy changed his stance he had his knees bent too much then couldn't adjust and half sort of fell forward. - but exactly it was a difficult take in difficult circumstances-I'm not getting at the lad- saints players dealt with the kicks better and murphy usually would - but It seems only certain giants players get ripped to bits for errors whilst others are forgiven!
It was the sort of ball you would expect Smurph to catch, yes it was a difficult kick to deal with and he's taken plenty of those before, therefore i was/am disappointed in him for that as i think it led to their try which ultimately cost us the game. He knew he made an error as he was stood with his hands on is head after.
If it was Grix there would be 9 pages of people cursing him by now.
