Re: Biggest game of the year - Fev : Thu May 10, 2018 12:03 pm

Hi Ian,

Yes we'll see you in "top house" next week, will aim to get there some time after 12. Looking forward to meeting up and chewing the fat.

I'm fairly sure that I said in another thread earlier in the saeson that I'd written off the Blackpool game given that Fev have never won at Bloomfield Road.

I did say before our game at LSV that I thought Leigh had the best team in this division and thought that they would still make the top 4, in the main I still feel that is true, though the Toronto team is better now than it was then. I expect the top 4 to be Toronto, Toulose, Fev and Leigh. If the finishing places are in that order that will mean that Leigh are at home to Toronto in the middle 8s and though Leigh would only get 3 home games i don't think it would be a bad outcome for your lads. In fact if you want 3rd (or even 2nd) above Fev 4th I'd take that since I'd rather give up the league place for a home game v Toronto for a trip to the LSV.

See you next week.
DAve

PS Thanks for the good wishes v Hull tonight but can't see anything but a Hull win by 24-30 points.

Theres no advantage with 4 games at home in the middle 8's. Its all down to the fixtures. A Championship club could end up with the first 3 games at home against SL teams. Bang goes the advantage.

I quite agree how the fixtures fall is much more important that having 3 or 4 home games, just have to be in it to have a chance of winning the ultimate prize, a place in SL.

The only team that will gain the advantage of 4 games at home is Toronto, but the Championship sides may gain advantage from that. All depends on how the RFL accommodate them fixture wise.

I'm of the opinion that all games are of this ilk ! When you consider where we were last season and some of the performances we gave, how did we manage to get ourselves relegated? There is no doubt whatsoever that injuries play a major part in a Teams fortune's ! You only have to look at the MPG and our selected team! There were eight players from our preferred starting thirteen unavailable and sat the stand! how different may our season have ended had they been available?
This season teams such as Widnes, HKR and Huddersfield are finding life extremely tough at the moment in SL due to their respective lengthy injury lists, even tonight visitors have been 'doing it tough' recently due to their lack of numbers!
Injuries will have a baring on the season outcomes they always do, lets hope we are not once again affected by them and prevent us from doing our best! fingers crossed

Personally i think that game so far has been the biggest game of the year!. I started to think "oh no" when Salford got two quick tries and we seemed to be getting some (lets say) harsh decisions against us , but what a team and what a disciplined performance good game , great result

Ben was outstanding. Really seems to have grown in confidence and stature under Purtill.

First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.

Agreed 100%
I was one of his critics under NJ but he seems a different player now. Taking on the line much more, giving some cracking passes, and his tactical kicking is getting better. He is also on form with his conversions for sure and tackles anything that comes his way.
Some said he was playing to orders under NJ and I wasn’t so sure, I now see that was bang on.
Ben is one of our most improved players
